Discovered this gentleman way back in 74, when DEAD SKUNK was on the radio. Did not know for a long time how good, how excellent of a songwriter and singer Loudon was and is. So glad that he is still with us, still writing beautiful and powerful new songs, and WOW! his voice is still strong at 77!

Been a fan since he played in a noisy lunch room at my community college in 1971 wherein almost no one was listening. Have seen him live many times in New York City and Long Island. Got to chat and take pix together a number of times.

Loudon Wainwright came and played in Belfast, N. Ireland in the 70's, when practically no musicians would do so. Saw him at Queen's University there. Thank you, sir!

Oooooh yes. The way the family drama plays out across the songs of Loudon, Martha, and Rufus is fascinating. How many daughters have been inspired by their fathers to write a song titled "Bloody Motherfucking Asshole"? Also check out Rufus's "Dinner at Eight."

@@yohei72 I grew up in Quebéc, very near to where Kate McGarrigle lived. The McGarrigle Sisters always put on a great show, unique and authentic. I never heard Martha perform until a few weeks ago on Prince Edward Island. It too was special. Her cover of Tom Wait’s I’ll Take it With Me is mesmerizing.

There is no beat to this song, at all. Try to follow it. 4/4? 3/4? He's just strumming along, singing. Sorry, but I don't dig it. The lyrics are nice, though.
