This sketch was not only funny...they took the time and money to prerecord it. Why did it get cut from air? It is much better than a couple that did air.
@Scipio488Ай бұрын
Precisely because it was prerecorded, rather than a live sketch, which the production is already built around. how does nobody here get that...?
@DonoVideoProductionsАй бұрын
@@Scipio488 What? They determine the final run of the show on the day of taping. The prerecorded packages are by far the more intensive and expensive productions of the show, and as such, are preapproved and slated for air ahead of time. Everything else gets slotted in around them. Only in rare cases (once was a legal issue with music) do they get on the day. So I ask again, how could this obviously funnier sketch get cut, when at least two of the live sketches were duds?
@BobKnight-mm2zeАй бұрын
Well I think in a pre-internet era the calculation might have been different. And even WITH the internet, SNL didn't really start putting the entire show (plus extras) online until about 3-5 years ago. After all those Lonely Island and then more recently Please Don't Destroy hits, they realized they could have a "broadcast" strategy and an "online strategy" that basically is bigger overall than either one on it's own. So I think they're working the combo-pack. This my thinking, but I've sold a tremendous amount of stuff online in the last 20 years, so that's how my marketing eyes see it. And of course the most rudimentary thing; it's impossible to know what the live run time is going to be, until it happens. So you have BOTH; pieces you can squeeze in if you have extra time, and pieces you can cut if you go long.

I remember SNL back in the first season, when it was just SN. No, it wasn't funnier than today's SNL. People just remember it that way. In fact, do a taste test. On Peacock, watch an episode from Season 1, then one from Season 49. You'll very quickly see that memory plays tricks.
