I love her so much. She’s so strong and capable, but her heart is sweet and just no matter how hard the world around her is.

This. A lot of ignorant readers (and most show watchers) like to believe that the story is about realizing the only way to survive is by being a nasty, murderous schemer. But in truth, it's more about being able to keep your honor and your values in the face of this. That the pursuit of righteousness is no less righteous because it's difficult. Brienne still has kindness in her heart, very much similar to Sansa Stark, wanting to believe that her values still hold meaning.

Man, even Stannis wasn't this harsh. Lord Tarly puts it on the next level.

I’ll say it: the first dozen chapters of Feast are a lull after the climactic ending of Storm. By now we’re getting started on new adventures. Brianne and Pod are a great pairing but their quest is hopeless - Sansa is Alayne and Arya is no one

'"They will." *Lord Tarly's son. Young Dickon's to be wed*. She tried to recall how old he was; eight or ten, she thought. Brienne had been betrothed at seven, to a boy three years her senior, Lord Caron's younger son, a shy boy with a mole above his lip. They had only met the once, on the occasion of their betrothal. Two years later he was dead, carried off by the same chill that took Lord and Lady Caron and their daughters. Had he lived, they would have been wed within a year of her first flowering, and her whole life would have been different. She would not be here now, dressed in man's mail and carrying a sword, hunting for a dead woman's child. More like she'd be at Nightsong, swaddling a child of her own and nursing another. It was not a new thought for Brienne. It always made her feel a little sad, but a little relieved as well." This is a very interesting passage for me. It pushes the idea further, that Brienne's whole life might have been different, and less troublesome, if the betrothal with the Caron boy went through. In truth, from here we can see that Brienne does not truly wish to be knight, to take joy only in the songs of slaying. That she only put on man's mail so that someone would care about her in any way, since no one would love her as a woman(Red Ronnet). Maybe she just didn't find the right man yet, who can see beneath her rough exterior to the beauty within. Hmm.... What I'm trying to say is that this is the first time in Feast that she starts thinking about her future, and it won't be the last. Whatever it may be, it definitely won't be Brienne being the stereotypical strong independent whamen who needs no man. Because such callous thoughts wouldn't fit the character.

Absolutely no way that Pod's origin story is true.
