I am in no sense a professional reader, voice actor, or what have you. I began this audiobook project some years ago when some friends of mine jokingly said they'd read A Song of Ice and Fire (my favorite fantasy series) if I personally recorded the whole series in audiobook form and sent it to them. Having now made my way almost through the first two books in the series, I decided to join the small community of people who post their own amateur audibook readings to youtube, and share my efforts.
I have no intention of profiting off of the work that is copyrighted to George RR Martin. This upload is a tribute to a series I deeply love, and I strongly encourage you to purchase these books. You won't regret it.

Podrick's 'eyes were as big as eggs'. That line along with Brienne's shield with Duncan the Tall's arms brings up how Brienne and Pod parallel Dunk and Egg. I wonder what secrets Pod has...

I agree, and very much subscribe to the theory that Brienne is a great great great whatever granddaughter of Dunk (funny how sometimes George loves to subvert "genetics are destiny" and sometimes he likes to play it straight) but woth noting that GRRM loves describing pre pubescent boys as having eyes wider than eggs. He throws that description at Sweetrobin Arryn a few times and maybe even RIckon too iirc.

At some point Brianne remembers an old shield from his fathers armory, found when she was just a child it was described as a Tree on a sunset with a shooting star as Duncan was bearing on the Hedge Knight BUT it does not make any sense that such shield is not a family relic and heirloom, It has not been that long since Duncan and Egg not even a hundred years

Brienne is likely the one related to egg though as dunk likely had a kid with a targaryen princess (one of egg’s sisters)

I hadn't read the Tales of Dunk and Egg until I listened to your readings of them, and now listening to Brienne's chapters, they feel like Dunk and Egg stories.

Depends on where youre at. My grandfather was originally from Maine, and he told me that they ate lobster ALOT when he was a kid. Because his dad worked on a pier, and it was really easy to come by. He always tells the story about how my grandmother stole him from Maine, and brought him "to these damn mountains and woods, where I have to pay $20 for a lobster" lol

27:08 correct me if I'm wrong, but this sounds like the first time in the whole series where the first rumor we hear about an event to be completely true. Other times it's completely far off, or nearly there and they barely get it right. But right off the bat, they get it right. Tyrion killed his dad.

The show is really straying from the books. In the show, Jaime sends Brienne off with Pod as he squire to accompany her on her journey to find Sansa.

There's so much bigger divergences in the show, it's more convenient for them to send pod with her in the show since they wrote it so she meets sansa and arya in season 4, what a mess it was

32:00 brienne is so inconsistent. All she cared about is honor. She gave Jaime hell about his honor. Refused to call him his name (but has to be called by her name) . Not that she was very really honorable to begin with but now all the sudden she’ll go to the ends of the earth claiming “I’ll give up my honor” if need be to find Sansa. To help a dead woman who started a war by kidnapping an innocent man, then broke the kings law and freed a pow. All brienne does is go about doing what she feels serving which person she wants to and has the nerve to talk about honor. She out here choosing sides halfway through each book. “I serve Renly” “wait now I serve the lady cat” “wait now it’s the lannisters” “o wait now I serve lady cat again, the undead” pick a side man 🤦🏽‍♂️. Or at least quit glorifying your honor and disrespecting everyone elses.it’s pathetic

I agree tentatively. Most of the time, she was following orders from her lords. They kept sending her off on these crazy missions all over westeros.
