Really great and well articulated points about our alter work. The points that I took away clearly is to actually sit with my ancestors 15-30 mins., talk regular, find out what type of music they like, be sure to show up clean and fresh; not hot from menstruation or after sex with scents and fluids that can trigger unfavorable entities, and never rush newer spirits to show up right away. Sometimes it can take 3-5 years. Wow, I didn't know that. Thank you...Very informative!!

I reached out to my grandmother and great grandmother on my mother's side forgetting that they were racist and didn't agree with my mom having mixed kids and the other was a pastor of a strict Christian religion. How can this be undone? I don't have an atler to dismantle its been faster to just connect when I feel. I plan on doing an alter to reach out to other ancestors on my father's side and elders I have worked with in the past. It is appropriate to believe my blood line will be the same in death as in life right. Maybe they just won't come and continue to not claim me but my great grandmother was a bit of a heretic iv been told. I have never seen any of them until recently in a photo but usually when I speak out it tends to be heard. How do I move forward how can I protect myself especially when using my blood to call on my bloodline and blessing as iv heard is a good way to call upon your family youv never seen or know nothing about.

You make the rules and go with what you feel is you develop your relationship with your ancestors. 😌 There is also a way to take a travel altar as well when you are out of town, but usually, I just take a glass and a candle and do my work like that if I'm away from home

Exactly. That depends on your lineage. We actually keep Eggun (Blood ancestors) on something called a Teja outside where they also receive their offerings and where my ancestor staph gets tapped. While I do have photos of some special relatives on my boveda, it’s mostly for my Cuadro Espiritual. So beware of super-imposing your lineage’s principles onto others. To each their own.

Dragons blood rids the home of ALL spiritual entities whether beneficial or malevolent it doesn’t matter. Dragons blood is good for a first time spiritual cleansing or when moving into a new home. Spiritualists should NEVER EVER use dragons blood as it repels all benevolent spirit guides.

I heard a practitioner say she never lets her alter go “cold” meaning she keeps candles burning. Whats your take on that?

Hello Ms. Adunola. My question to you is, what if we don't know much about our ancestors. I mean I have grandparents and an unlce I knew who has passed. My grandmother raised me, and she passed back in 2014. We were very close but you stated to give her time to get use to the spirit world. I only have her picture up with a plant to represent my family tree. But I don't know their names or the type of people they were. We are or was a family of secrets. And it's because my family where either rape by our own family members or beaten. So grandma never talked about them. If I'm praying to my ancestors how do I keep from praying to those who brought harm to my family because I don't want there spirits or bad intentions brought on me by them. If I can not contact grandma or Grandpa, who am I praying to that will protect me and my family? Do you understand what I'm trying to say?

You are BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for this video. I had created an altar before with most of the materials listed, and at that time I honestly had no idea what i was doing. Especially with the incense selections! i always gravitated to Dragon's Blood, and this one called Isis. Now i know what to do correctly for my new one. i really appreciate you!
