I always enjoy watching them around the ranch. They, of course, are excellent helpers as far as fertilization and pest control as well. Thanks for following along as always.

I would be happy to sit there just watching them all day, but of course, there's more work to be done. Thanks for following along as always.

That is Blue scaled quail. I have them thick at my place.

Yes, the most I have seen at one time is about 25, but I'm sure there is more where they came from. Thanks for watching.

How wonderful to have a diversity of birds. They work every day - all day clearing the homestead of pest insects. The covey of quail is a great development. Are you a hunter? Don't believe I have asked that question. I'm sure your priority now is to grow the population of creatures - but harvesting for your own use in the future? 👍
@TimelineRanch3 ай бұрын
I don't hunt myself, but in the future, I will not be against harvesting some free protein from the ranch. Yes, the birds have a big impact on the environment, especially over time.
@stevejohnstonbaugh91713 ай бұрын
@@TimelineRanch Nor am I a hunter. But when you live on the ranch, selective harvesting of protein will likely help the herds/flocks live in peak vitality. The circle of life 😉

@nettp7773 I was wrong about the type of quail they are Blue Quail or Scaled Quail. The color varies in different areas so it has been observed.

You are correct. I miss spoke when identifying them they are Blue Quail or Scaled Quail. I didn't know what the other species was, so thanks for identifying them for me, and thanks for following along as always.

@@TimelineRanch I had never seen those birds. Do you have turkeys there too?

@howtogrowdragonfruitplant7849 No, there are no turkeys in this part of Texas. It is too dry for them.

Have you seen any wild cats yet fingers crossed you don't but they tend to follow the bird's around to water eventually
@TimelineRanch3 ай бұрын
I have not seen any in-person at the pond, but I know they are around. I have some pictures on the game camera. The pictures are not very good but you can definitely see it's a big mountain lion. Thanks for watching as always.

You always impress me with your knowledge and skills. The first bird is I think a Junko dark eye ( à flanc rosé ) they hibernate in Arizona & New Mexico page 402-2 bird encyclopedia. Second one we don'tsee in Canada, as you said, Quail Gambel's 218-1 the picture doesn't rend it's real beauty. This bird make the sound "tchi-ca-go-go" is this accurate?

Thanks for the compliment and watching as always. The sound you describe is close to what they make, I would say. They are fun to watch.
