MR. DAN ANDERSON: I am a 63 year old man who has been a Black Belt in Isshinryu since 1979 and listening to your story just brought tears to my eyes with your meeting with my Idol, Bruce Lee. Thank you so much for your humility that you have towards younger and older people who have approached you. You just touched my soul brother. God Bless You... The world needs more people like you in it. Thank You So Much for your story...Joseph

Just absolutely core touching. I trained in various forms of fighting methods and back in the day I met Ali. He talked and joked with me for about 2 minutes which seemed like 2 years. And when he finished he shook my hand as if I was his blood brother. I couldn’t believe it and to this day it seems like it just happened! Your story reminds me of my experience. There’s a lot of learning in what you have shared and as I look back on my experience it teaches me something knew concerning humility and genuine love towards others every time I think about it.

I must be a silly old man. Here I AM, getting all choked up over this. I went through a form of mild depression when Lee died---but the mix of training, and hanging out with like- minded friends lifted me up and out of it. I CAN not, and WILL not ever forget how Lee's life impacted the healthy life-style I adopted "back then," despite all the peer-pressure to take drugs. Thank you LORD, thank you Mr. Lee!

Your story reminds me of the time I met Carl Palmer of ELP. He was just leaving the rehersal studio headed to do the Arsinio Hall show (yeah it was that long ago). I recognised him and told him how much of an influence ELP had been on my friends and I. I wanted an autograph did not have a pen. Palmer told me to wait and then went all the way back inside the studio to get a pen and paper to give me an autograph. I never met Lee, but it's great when your heroes turn out to be quality people.

i dont care if bruce lee was the greatest fighter of all time. i think he didnt get the credits 4 many other things he should deserve. Fighting vs racism, building the first mix racial fighting school, teaching in Universitys. He had so much influence on so many people. he was more than a martial artist. a day in bruce lees life was 10 days worth in everbodys life. he did so many every day.met so many people and changed the world 4ever. hes a legend. he truly is. who thinks about joe lewis now after he died? a few people... ?i mean hes dead now 4 6 years? i mean its crazy. bruce is dead now 4 45 years. its crazy. and everybody cheers at him until today. hes there in that kind of superstar heaven where he belongs. hes bigger than michael jackson,marylin monroe or all the other legends who died. elvis presley is maybe in his kind of superstar fame. and that is what other karate fighters cant accept. a man who is dead 4 more than 45 years is more famous than superstars today. and this not because only he was a good martial artist. he was a remarkable human beeing.fighting 4 his dream, 4 his family. he went through up and downs. he was poor. he was rich. fought his way to the top with hard work. nobody deserved it more than him.sadly he was not long enuogh there to enjoy it. god send him back to heaven.

I got my one son super interested in Bruce Lee several years ago. He said, "Bruce Lee was the greatest martial artist of all time". It dawned on me a few months ago....I myself have NEVER known all of the martial artists who EVER lived! So...how could I say he was the greatest martial artist???! One thing I came to realize...I DO KNOW OF ONE PERSON WHO WAS A BETTER MARTIAL ARTIST. Can you think of who that would be?????? It took me YEARS to think of this:..Yip Man...or...Ip Man... Bruce Lee's teacher!!! Yes... Bruce is now dead for 48 and a half years. He certainly DID have a great influence on a LOT of people. Oh, yeah...he was the first...or one of the first... people to "invent" the nutritional drinks!!! I remember...a long time ago...of his concocting his own nutritional drinks!

If only there were more people like that today. Usually it ends up the greater the person is the more personable they end up being. Not needing to be arrogant and full of themselves. Benny Urquidez is like that with all people. Respect. It's just like the truly wealthy don't need to show off by driving the most expensive car. Warren Buffet. @foreveragainOK5 жыл бұрын
That's true. A person under pressure, say in competition, will be focused. At the same time, a few seconds of your time -- isn't it worth it? The lesson I get is the ideal of trying to show respect at all times. We may fail, but we try to live up to that ideal. It's hard being famous. Even when BL was super famous in Hong Kong, three's stories of his class. One in HK, it was raining hard. Bruce was at a window and saw a guy carrying a load of dishes. He slipped and the dishes came crashing. Bruce ran outside and helped the guy gather the unbroken dishes and cleaning up. He was distraught that he would lose his job, while at the same time amazed it was Bruce Lee! Bruce gave the guy money to replace the dishes. The guy who witnessed it said, 'That is a man.'

Tarantino called Bruce Lee arrogant and made him look like an asshole in his movie, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
@17losttrout3 жыл бұрын
Well, he could be, at times. That doesn't detract from his legacy. As for the film, it was clearly a fantasy ("Once upon a time" is how bedtime stories start): Sharon Tate didn't die and the Manson family got beaten up and shot. I'm a little surprised people are so bothered.
@vinnynumbnuts11133 жыл бұрын
@@17losttrout Hmm, well, everybody is an asshole at times, no? But, hold it, Tarantino did say Bruce bragged that he could beat Muhammad Ali in a fight and this was verified by his wife, Linda Lee in her book. This is what Tarantino meant by Bruce's arrogance and he did put it in his movie, which is not simply fantasy in that sense. Matthew Polly: Linda was quoting a TV critic. "Even the most scathing critics admitted that Bruce Lee's gungfu was sensational. One critic wrote, 'Those who watched him would bet on Lee to render Cassius Clay senseless if they were put into a room and told anything goes.'" And the evidence is to the contrary. Bruce worshipped and respected Cassius Clay and according to Linda Lee, he said he wouldn't have a chance against the man: "He'd kill me."
@17losttrout3 жыл бұрын
@@vinnynumbnuts1113 Of course - and sure, obviously there is a blur between fantasy and reality in the film. There was a Manson family. They did have certain beliefs. Bruce did say certain things. There's a fair chance a grappler/Judoka/stuntman type like Gene LeBell did grab him up and give him a bit of a surprise too. His legacy stands though. LeBell respects the man whatever.

Krypton Danny, Think you are just trolling. BUT--- It was out of Admiration to Bruce’s Art that Master Anderson walked up to Bruce. Does a homeless guy have something that you admire?
