Print the serial number on the plastic sleeve, you can make visible on the seem or us an invisible uv activated ink. This way the inner sleeve doesn't need to be cut and our books "re-handled" if unnecessary. Also instead of printing the serial number it could be the barcode that's already on the label. Scan the label barcode then scan the sleave barcode to see that they match.

praise be!!! I'm old enough to have started collecting pre 3rd party grading existing. While I like them for making things consistent and trusted over the internet I've never understood the massive premium from 9.6 to 9.8...but being from Canada I totally think any and ALL CPV books should command extra $$$$

To me, laser etching the serial on the holder and inner well is also an option. That would link all three together and make it harder to simply crack slabs and switch books or labels. If those three numbers don't match up, something is going on.

I agree - just a lot of laser etching… and since CGC mixes up custom labeled all the time I don’t see them pulling off a 3 way label match w etched serials. But it could happen

Be a great idea but they would probably add another $5-7 to all books if they did that. Easy process but not if they're churning out thousands of books per day. Would be easier (for them) to just have a small strip of paper with that SN and slip it in on the back of the comic in the inner sleeve visible from the outside.

Market died let it go tattoos on comic books where do you get this bunk information

Those thoughts have been regularly repeated on the CGC boards and CGC Facebook group. Obviously a bad idea

Noone needs cgc for validation of their comics period

(Not your main point in this video, but to me CGC has beefed up its Customer Service because they make so many mistakes and cause so many problems, while CBCS simply makes fewer mistakes, so it doesn't have such a big investment in Customer Service. In general, I think CBCS cases are better (e.g., the books/inner wells don't move inside but they do almost universally with CGC). Also, it is beneficial to collectors for there to be multiple third-party grading companies.)

I still think the best approach would be to add cert number sticker on the back of the inner sleeve that way no one can switch the comic.

Not a bad idea as long as fb as it’s small and tamper proof.

Wasn't the problem CGC not reverifying the comic in the inner sleeve on slabs for reholdering (enables the "Switcheroo" to happen)

Correct - swapping books from labels - so sealing them together is a solution
