Slacky learning to edit was the single greatest thing to happen to my yt feed. 💯 Might be good to put some still images inbetween the constant stream of video. Maybe highlighting what part of the position/technique is talked about along with some text. That crooked head scissors is so deadly because it is 3 things, a submission, a possible transition, and a choke, it can do so much for you just by getting them distracted with the possibility of an arm bar or kamora.

I feel like the only things that kept Suzuki from becoming one of the greats in MMA was his age and inability to adapt or cross train into modern MMA. But even now, you can learn from his movements on how to apply the spinning armbars and control from the farside arm attack while in side control. This is a well done video.

@kforcer
@kforcer 3 жыл бұрын
@@MansMan42069 Suzuki didn't create them; that was all Funaki. Suzuki was one of the stars of the organization, but it was Funaki who came up with the rules and the format, at least as far as I understand it. There was a series of in-depth interviews with Suzuki fairly recently, talking about those early days conducted by William Colosimo; Suzuki was definitely Pancrase's Ace alongside Funaki, but it was Funaki's brainchild.

For what it is worth, Suzuki wasn't the only member of the Pancrase stable with a sterling amateur pedigree. Though Suzuki was an Olympic alternate, Takahashi was 4th in the freestyle world cup, among other honors. Between the two, Takahashi was actually the more decorated amateur. Which makes it even more impressive that Suzuki outwrestled him in spite of facing a large weight disadvantage. I'd also definitely dispute the notion that Funaki followed Bas Rutten in utilizing the guard; Funaki was using the guard even in his PWFG days. In fact, what people call "K-guard" today, following Neil Melanson's attribution to Ken Shamrock, is really the "F-guard", because it was Funaki that popularized it in Pancrase (though again, he could be seen using it much earlier). Great video, though and you make some great observations about Suzuki's technique and his similarities to Saku. They also both love the low single and the sweep-single.
