Yes Ea Grau is very shallow but there is loads of space that is still really sheltered right outside where I put the anchor marker on the graphic. It's a nice anchorage

If you have two chargers connected to the same battery bank as one raises the voltage, it trips the other into assuming a higher battery charge state. I would try a few days with just one charger. Cheers

DC systems should play nicely with many different charging sources, ours used to then started playing up. Fixed now though, all will be revealed in the next episode!

@@svfairisle they should but sometimes they don't 😂 charging is done by raising the voltage on the battery. If one charger raises the voltage to float leve the other one thinks battery is as float level. But locking forward to seeing how you solved it. Cheers.

We loved Mallorca . I hired a car and we visited most of the island in our weeks holiday . My favorite area was the north west mountainous side , but it was all good . I remember seeing large engined trikes , Harleys I think , which you could hire , driving around the northern hills . In the north east there is a cave system where you are guided under ground , up right walking and no spcial equipment needed , where the guide tapped musical stalactites . Nearby was an old castle with a restaurant serving mostly local people with real Spanish meals ; fabulous ! Great place all round . Condolences to you Steve .

Many thanks for putting the time and effort in another top notch video… entertaining, informative, inspiring Fornell’s was NOT in my cruise plan… it is now. 0:03 Wanted to ask you for advice: you seem to rely on your dinghy quite a bit to get ashore and explore… for long periods of time. So, two questions about SECURING it: 1) do you only dock it in dedicated dinghy tie in places (e.g., at Fornell’s); and 2) is securing just a matter of using a chain and lock?

Thanks for the kind words, We do tend to lock the dinghy ( many people don’t ). We use a 3meter long piece of plastic covered wire, it’s what you get for securing bikes, it has two loops in the ends so it goes through a ring if there is one or around a tree and gets padlocked to the engine. Only about 10% of the places we go have dinghy docks so often you’re improvising

Check for a bad connection between charger and hub. This can cause a voltage drop and effectively fool your chargers into thinking you have a higher voltage in the battery, and triggering float. It becomes more prevalent at high charging currents as the voltage drop is higher. Battery voltage plus any voltage drops is what the charger sees. I thought you had lithium?

Yes we do have Lithium. It ended up being a problem with the breakers I was using in the line from the battery to the MPPT. I caused an enormous change in the MPPT's behaviour. It was basically limiting the o/p of the panel to about a quarter of it's capacity in the end.

great! re: temps. could you mention the temps on sea w/humidity? just curious as here in canada, lake huron exit, it was 22 c, 28 c humidex @18:27 10/08.

We’ve just had a heat wave in the Med. Last few weeks the temperature has been around 40 degrees and humidity about 75% but that’s unusual. It’s cooled down a bit this week across the Med and especially for us as we’ve got to Gibraltar which is generally cooler and the sea temp here is MUCH cooler

I had the same problem after software up date, I had to reset to default, then change back lithium , and adjust voltages for the batteries you have , also so take in to account volt drop between controller and batteries,

Yes I may get the Victron Smart Battery Sensor, it looks like it would overcome any voltage drop issues

Complete non sailor, never been interested even, until KZbin algorithm brought you up. Firstly fantastic stuff, I started at series 1 a few weeks back and been watching since but you mentioned anchorage’s and someone gets too close you ask them to move. What’s the rule/form here? I’ve seen you go into busy anchorages etc but never know how you work out who / what should be where? Maybe Steve could do a video!? :-)

The rule is not to anchor too close and if someone anchors too close to you, you have a right to ask them to move. It seems to work!

I mainly use an iPad pro, but I think the one you are referring too is one I am testing from Orca. It has a fully weatherised Android tablet. There will be full test coming soon.

A big downside of ebikes, for urban dwellers in particular, is two fold: weight and fire risk. Try muscling a heavy ebike up some steps, through double doors, onto an elevator and then into an apartment. Battery theft and refurbished gray market lithium are also now sadly a big problem. A battery technology that afaik can’t be recycled or otherwise safely disposed of. We’ll stick with our old school 20lb bikes thank you very much.
