Hey Alonzo! Thanks for watching. I agree with you 100%. It’s going to become my router of choice for given situations. Have a great day!

Thank you Tony, I just bought a RT6600AX and need all the help I can get. You said that you are going to do a video on setting up a firewall. Have you done one yet? I couldn't find it if you have. Again thank you for your help.

Hello abock. Yes I did say that and the firewall video is still to come as is a video on parental controls. Stay tuned... Thanks for watching.

@@QuikTechSolutions Thank You for the reply, I found instructions on setting up the firewall to have my printer on guest network and I am able to use it on the main network and keep everything safe. I am now looking to add a SSD drive to the router and use it for a file server and for the Threat Protection since there is only one USB. Is there a size limit? I am thinking about a 1TB. Again THANK YOU!!! for your help.

Hi. I’m not sure if there is a size limitation, but I can tell you I have a 2TB drive connected and it works perfectly. Video coming soon.

Great video! 1.3.1 RC is out for the 2600 & 2200 routers too!
@QuikTechSolutions2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. Yes, as of 1.3.1 for the 2200 & 2600 you can now mesh with the 6600. Have a great day.

Well explained Tony!! Pretty interesting that they build the unit to be stand alone or station on a mesh. Starting to have the kinds of options my UniFi network has offered, much more affordable. Enjoyed you work sir!

Hey Doug! Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate your comments very much. Yeah, I’m really liking this router. I think it’s going to become my “Go To” in situations where folks don’t want the expense of installing a complete Unifi stack. Stay tuned for more on this device. Have a great day!

hello super youtube video. I'm just curious what you would choose. UDM or Synology router? and can unifi controller run together with Synology router ? so synology router with different networks that are also available via UniFi controller. I still have several access points from unifi
@QuikTechSolutions2 жыл бұрын
Hello Michael, I can go with either, but if I stayed in the Unifi ecosystem I would go with the newer Unifi Dream Router. BTW, any router can be used with Unifi. The controller would run on a separate device like a CloudKey Gen2. The networks in the controller would be setup as Vlan only network. When using a non-Unifi router, all the Vlan configuration would be done in the router, then passed to the Unifi switches and then into the APs. While the RT6600AX is an awesome device, probably easier to keep everything in the same ecosystem under one pane of glass. Thanks for watching.

@@QuikTechSolutions Oke great. When I buy a synology do I have mine 3 networks with vlan on dhcp relay. In UniFi controller.
@QuikTechSolutions2 жыл бұрын
Nope, DHCP will be configured and handled in the RT6600AX, then passed over the vlans.

Any ideas when they will add mesh support for the older MR2200ac with this new device (RT6600ax)?
@QuikTechSolutions2 жыл бұрын
Hello William, I don’t have an inside scoop to Synology’s roadmap, but I think it’s a matter of “if & when” they make SRM V1.3 available to the older units. I say “if & when” because it would depend on if the older hardware can support the newer software. I know this is not the definitive answer you were hoping for, but that’s all I have to offer at this point in time. Have a great day and thanks for watching!

I've heard v1.3 will be out later this year, the RT1900AC will NOT get v1.3

Hey folks, today Synology released SRM 1.3.1 bring a ton of features to the older RT2600AC and the MR2200 AC. Check out all the features here: www.synology.com/en-us/releaseNote/SRM#:~:text=Fixed%20a%20security%20vulnerability%20regarding,CVE%2D2019%2D15666).

I am glad they included a 2.5 gbps port but I really wish they would of put in a 10 gbps port because 10 gbps NIC cards aren't really that expensive these days.
@QuikTechSolutions2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, thanks for watching and commenting! I hear you, but 2.5GbE is at least a starting point. Keep in mind there aren’t too many residential Internet services at least that I know of in my area that offer faster than one gig at this point in time. Things will certainly change in the future, and by that time routers should be supporting larger capacity WAN ports. Have a great day.

Excellent video tony. no doubt synology makes great devices but i wonder why did they miss the wifi 6 train by so much! as for the device itself, Synology really "made it their own" in regards to the interface. lots of new capabilities but the interface speaks the same design language. I totally respect that about Synology.

Hello! Actually, I made two subsequent videos on the RT6600AX router. One covered firewall rules, and the other covered how to keep kids safe online, which basically covered content filtering. They were done about a year ago. Check them out.
