A FISH OF A LIFETIME Was Living Below These RAGING RAPIDS!!! (EPIC BATTLE)

This time of year, is my favorite time of year. The flatheaded dong fish are done hibernating, are charged up, getting ready to bone, and.. And get this.. They are catchable on lures. I rose myself from the linens at the butt crack of dawn, drove 2 hours a canal that has pumped out some megas, and started casting. IT DID NOT TAKE LONG. PAAA POWWW!!!

Nice fish Josh, he most likely struck at the lure and missed and sucked it up into his gills when he closed his mouth. I would count that as a legal caught fish. Great job wearing each other out ☺️

Exactly. My best catch was me napping with the boat drifting on a long anchor line. Had my ultra light rod with 4lb test, when the rod left my hand, luckily the reel got snagged on the lip of the boat. That was a 20-25 minute fight to bring in a 42” lake trout! At points the fish took my line under the boat to the point that I had my rod, arms, even head in the water to chase trying to prevent line being cut by the boat (my hat sank)😂. Afterwards there was much debate among locals that ‘there ain’t no trout in that lake’ versus ‘my buddy caught one’. I’d caught bigger fish, but I’d never had that excellent of a fight for that long. *I love fishing light gear.

Awesome video. Caught my first flathead. Was about 36 inches on a live bluegill under a bobber. I had a net but I lipped it . They are definitely angry and had a good release. Did not feel the need to weigh it also . Then two days later got another almost as big using same bait . Thank you Josh. Fishing in Muskegon Lake in Michigan

I can bet he swiped at it head on over your line and got the line between the gills in the process, explains the weird feel to the bite. The lure just followed the line when it went at it again and pulled it into that spot. I've seen it happen with other fish when they were super aggressive. Could have also been wrapped in the line and the lure popped off and got re-hooked but the only way it got into that location is from the fish swinging on it in the first place. Great catch!

I agree. When they bite a bait they have huge mouths and the gills flare so much too that there’s got to be water ruching in that opening as well. Where I live, so long as it was attempting to bite the lure, it’s caught legally. Belly or tail etc is too hard to prove it’s not a snag. This was NOTa snag, but a fair caught fish! Nice work Josh!!

I need to get a truck. I know a great place for flatheads, but you have to have a 4x4 to get there. Last year I had little time and little money to go fishing. This year I have no time and plenty of money. Guess I have to be happy with watching Stache videos.

My way of landing salmon on the fly rod , is rod in left hand, bring rod tip over your head, grab line with right hand, release tension, tail the fish. Land chum salmon on a 6wt, did a 9wt last yr, pulled more hooks, to much back bone. 6 wt bends to the cork, 120 echo base lol. Wicked catches this year
