@@LazyDogFarm Fair warning from one who’s been through it; BE PATIENT! I am an object lesson for what you can do to you by hurrying too hard. My spine has two spots of grief: one in my neck (where the doctor swears it fractured (!)) and one in the low back, which will NEVER straighten out. I give thanks that I am still able to “motorvate” even if only with a walker. Experience speaking: far better to give thanks for what is than to bemoan what is no more.

@@vickisavage8929 Yes back injuries are no joke and take time. I hurt my back in two places several years ago and while things are otherwise back to normal these days, if I overexert myself (like picking up a window AC) I'll feel it and have to let things chill for several days.

Ms. Brooklyn, I can sympathize with dealing with Travis and his OCD on the garden. I am the same and have to deal with any help is good help and if it is not quite as particular as I would like, my wife is working with and beside me and that is good enough. Now, when I am by myself, Travis I am right there with you and get OCD about cleaning up and weeds. Thanks for the video on all that you planted. Travis hang in there and keep gettin' better. Travis, you have done great letting go of some of the OCDness. People do not understand how hard that is. I know that you really haven’t let it go and it’s still bothering you that your garden isn’t perfect. I know all too well. But it really will be ok and you know that also. Great job on both of you understanding and appreciating each other. Brooklyn asks some great questions, like she knows what we want to know. One question, how can she look so good working out in the garden? Garden goals for this ole gal. 🤣

Calypso Cuke producing a few salad size , Corn doing ok so far. Oh, Pumpkins maybe a washout, unless these plants get more sun. Okra, has been slow to grow. What are you planting on your cattle panel trellis this fall?
@LazyDogFarm
@LazyDogFarm 3 жыл бұрын
Gourds. I just pulled the plug on all the bean plants. Used some loppers and snipped the plants at soil level. We'll wait for them to get crispy and then we'll torch the trellis to get it clean before planting the gourds.

Then I was trying to find the video where you introduced the guide and dang if you didn't show it again. And you are talking about the sorghum Sudan grass and peas I have been calling around for today. Well looks like I'll have to order these and I'm looking into the safflower seed now. All while enjoying my first yellow meat baby doll watermelon. great job on demonstrating the tpostpuller Brooklyn! I'm getting ready to call it quits on the cucumbers myself. I have trouble with birds eating my seeds whenever I plant things like sunflowers, and we've bought safflower seeds for the cardinals, so I'm sure they'd love if I planted this. Do you ever put netting over your seeds? Or are your birds more well mannered than ours?
@LazyDogFarm

I've never put a netting over it. We do plant it extra thick so if the birds want some, there's plenty. We also have two cats that love to eat a bird. So the birds are very careful.

Great video yall! So, I need some education on inoculatants. What does it do, and is it just needed for legumes?
@LazyDogFarm
@LazyDogFarm 3 жыл бұрын
It adds the bacteria necessary for legumes to fix their own nitrogen, reducing the amount of fertilizer they need (because they're making their own) and inevitably making them more healthy and productive. In the case of cover crops, it really helps increase the nitrogen bank in the soil.

Just saw another KZbinr show his sweet potatoes. Looked like he had weedeated it. He said deer are acting like pets this year. Coming into their yards and not scared. Eating everything. My theory, so much building of subdivisions that it is chasing them out of their natural habitat. They have no other place to go or food to eat so they’re seeking our yards and gardens. It’s been a crazy year in many ways.h
@bennywalsh2038
@bennywalsh2038 3 жыл бұрын
@@apiecemaker1163 That was crazy Danny from Deep South Homestead. I live pretty much in the woods, just north of Travis, so deer are no strangers here. They do appear to be coming closer to the house than normal. But the culprit could be a rabbit. Ga DNR website states that due to their teeth, or lack of, deer will tear and rip plants whereas a rabbit will leave a sharp cut almost like the leaf stem was pruned. I'm gonna put wire fencing around the containers the sweet potatoes are in and hope the foliage regrows. Some sites claim it will. Otherwise it might be time for a recipe and a rather attractive rabbit skin hat.

That's a great video. Lots of interesting nuggets in there. I was always under the impression that it only took a single transmission of a virus by a vector into a plant for it to be affected, but this challenges that idea and suggests that the plant can't fight that virus if the soil biology is present.
