it is a lot of fun. of course, it requires a lot of knowledge--too many people just go online and order parts and unbolt an OEM piece that would have worked fine if they just knew how to "massage" it a little bit. I'm sure it funded a few speed shops back in the "malaise era" but it also created the idea that non-chevy small block engines weren't worth the time and effort. it also helps to have room to store all the parts needed one day...or have real good swap meets nearby :) this morning i was at one at oh-dark-hundred and a guy was saying he could buy a used 4.8 litre LS for what it would cost him to rebuild a gen one chevy 350. well, yeah, but that's comparing a used engine to a fresh one. I've got $50-$100 chevy 350's i've picked up over time (too cheap not to) and I could freshen one up (depending on the need--boost, etc) for what it would cost me to do an entire LS swap on a 4.3 litre V6 G body (the 4.3 litre is a 350 missing two cylinders, so a few parts will swap over). knowledge is (horse) power :)

Makes me want to build one. Too many irons in the fire right now. Keep em coming. Have you done a video(s) breaking down what breaks at what level? Almost like build recipes. 13s, 12s, 11s etc... Obviously many ways, but could be a good road map, and might bring more guys to the channel. Can even point to past videos at the rollers and track.

some of it is skill, like a T5 transmission can be crunched at less than 300 ft lbs of torque with the wrong shifting technique taking out the 3rd gear synchros. But i dig the idea of build recipes. Even with just one Mustang, build for 13's, then what it would cost to dip lower (without a power adder, since we know N2O would be easy enough on forged pistons). Give folks an idea of how it's cheaper in the long run to build a 13 second car ready for the 10's than to redo everything a second and then a third time. meanwhile, 13's and high 12's can be reached with a general 5.0 litre Fox, give it some stiff rear gears, higher ratio roller rockers or a cam swap, help it breathe, chop some weight out...
