Really enjoyed this. Thank you. I am looking into what you're talking about. This is the first channel/video I have watched that helps me feel safe exploring Christian mysticism. I have had so many experiences without trying and I want to understand. Left the church 9 yrs. ago. Been evangelical 15+ yrs. BUT I feel a yearning, longing to connect with Jesus, a disconnect from that church life I lived...lol...I don't know what to call it or how to explain it. This right here is a good start.

God bless you brother your content and sermons are amazing! Please keep it up! I am a Christian mystic who is swimming in the deep end with pleasure. Seeking holiness and stumbling all the way up the mountain being carried by Christ all the way. But funny enough my journey into mysticism has led me into a balance and increase in fundamentalism. If you love Jesus you follow the Laws of the Father. Anyways keep it up man!

It seems that we are all programmed to some rule of thought. However, spirituality allows us to break out of the program, which I believe cannot be measured, and remains a mystery.

Thank you for this. I’m a failed mystic. By failed I mean I was once a mystic but have fallen away from it. I lost the discipline and fell away from God. I’m struggling to return after backsliding and getting into Gnosticism and Hinduism. I still am drawn by the Holy Spirit to begin again but I have a lot confusion. I could use everyone’s prayers.

Much love to you, brother. Sincere mystics from many faith traditions have more in common than not. Here is some fine words to you from Rumi: "Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn't matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again , come , come..."

Just pray to see God's face continually. No person can convince a person . It's a move of God . Pray and expect an answer

@@M-i-k-a-e-lThank you so much for sharing this. I love Rumi. To me this sounds like the heart of the Father and it reminds me of the parable of the lost son, where the father wants both of his sons to come into the house to join the party; the one who stayed as well as the one who left.

DURING JESUS CHRIST'S MISSING YEARS NOT IN BIBLE, I BELIEVE HE TRAVELLED EAST TO LEARN MYSTICISM AND KNEW BUDDHA HIMSELF

"Christians" need to evolve / go deeper into their/our faith. Call us mystics if you want, I see it as a compliment! Definitely a compliment! "Christian" has too many emotions attached to the label.

Hey Harvey, I’m working on some stuff to make this content more accessible. Did you guys ever release our conversation on your show??

@@withjonadamsunfortunately our show has come to a close. We didn’t end up releasing the conversation we had. I’d love to still put it out there in some way. Would you perhaps be interested in releasing it to your audience?

Off topic - has anyone ever told you you sound kinda like actor John Krasinski?

Haha no, I've gotten Jon Heder from Napoleon Dynamite. I consider Krasinski an improvement, so thank you :)

Love this video and your channel!!!...correct me if I'm wrong but when you say "scripture" (and from what I'm gathering from your video it's almost like you're treating that as the "guard rails" for Christian Mysticism) you seem to omit the "authority" that is "upstream" of scripture (I'm talking about The Church) as well as the canonization process that went into defining (and I'd argue being able to be an "authority" on the interpretation of it as well) the scripture itself... Divorced from the group that gave us the scriptures (I'd argue this is the Eastern Orthodox Church), mysticism can be dangerous (look up the EO concept of "prelest")...also, towards the end of the video you say "participation in the Kingdom..." and part of this entails participating in the "mysteries" (sacraments) given by Jesus to His Church right? So it would seem to be that bundled up in "Christian Mysticism" should be the all important task of being a part of the community He set up (and commissioned his disciples to continue)...any thoughts?
@withjonadams8 ай бұрын
Church authority is definitely not upstream from Scripture for me. I have respect for the different traditions, but I’m a bit of an anti-authoritarian.

You mentioned if someone in the Midwest listens to NPR they will understand your reference to Lake Woebegone. What is a Christian doing listening to NPR? That's just bizarre. How do you maintain the deep connection to God that Christian mysticism promotes if you're getting your news and information from an organization that falls on the anti-Christian side of every social issue?
