I'm a nurse and ANY symptom of a stoke is life or death. You chose to be wise by getting medical care immediately. You are loved by your family and every person that consistently watches your videos. Yes, I am new here as of July 7th 2023, but the past four days I have sat here and binged watched your videos from the VERY FIRST ONE YOU PUT OUT. You're talented artist and musician. You are strong, and have the mind set to help others'. Thank you for that. Keep fighting, keep producing videos. You may never see this comment but you are worthy. Keep your sense of humor and your laugh!

Michael, you are most certainly NOT a failure--you are a bright and multi-talented young man. I am glad that you are figuring yourself out and getting the help you need. Your recent episode that took you to the hospital hit home with me. Please get checked for myocarditis and pericarditis. We lost a family member to a "treatment" that was much worse than the disease. Sadly, it is happening to more young men.

Michael, we have been with you since day one of your channel. You are creative, funny, hardworking, artistic, practical and an absolute joy to watch. We would never get frustrated about the frequency of videos. We can’t imagine the pressure it must create to post regular footage. We are happy with whatever and whenever you post. We love the variety, the honesty and the journey you have taken us on. Keep being you (whatever your diagnosis, you are still the Michael who has all the qualities we listed above), keep well and we will remain very happy followers of your channel. Sending love from UK 🇬🇧

Michael, I was also diagnosed with ADD as an adult, in my forties in fact, and like you, I finally understood my entire life. I tried Ritalin, but did not like the ups and downs. I then tried Vyvanse, and it was a miracle. No ups and downs, just the ability to focus and get things done. I remember the second day I was on Vyvanse, it hit me all at once that how I felt and how I was functioning was how most people felt every day of their lives. What people don't understand about Attention Deficit Disorder is that it is NOT a deficit of attention. It's a deficit of focus. An inability to narrow the beam of your attention to just one thing instead of the dozens of things that catch our attention every minute of every day. D o not say that you failed at everything. It isn't true. You have learned to do so many different things, and have so many talents and accomplishments. I am happy you've gotten a proper diagnosis, and can't wait to see what you accomplish. I do recommend you pursue therapy, however, because battling your way to and through adulthood with undiagnosed ADD gives us a lot of wrong perceptions of ourselves. There are also many 'tricks' that can help you deal with the day-to-day issues of living a productive life with ADD. Wishing you the best going forward. Oh, and when this vid first started, I thought immediately, "Wow! What's Michael been doing? His skin looks wonderful!" Congratulations on making it a whole month without smoking!

Glad that you okay and it's nice to see you back. Hopefully now with your diagnosis you can start to understand yourself. I work with children in the autistic spectrum and they learn new things everyday, so fine yourself time to process things. You haven't called at things, they are your learning stones. Keep positive and remember everyday is a new day.😊

Good idea to really quit smoking because it is bad not only for the lungs but your circulation and heart. Hopefully that medical event was a passing one and your body will get used to the new medicine you are taking. To my knowledge it takes a good 30 days to really feel the full effects of it. Glad to see you back. Thank you for sharing your personal story.

You have gifted intelligence in the areas that interest you. Not only can you play piano, you write music, memorized it, and even tune pianos and even have your own tuning equipment! Not only do you know everything about AGA cookers, you rebuilt one after tracking down parts from all over the world. Just in piano and AGA, you have shown a deep dive of attention and tremendous persistence. Then there’s your drawing and painting skills, trompe l'oeil, and your deep historic knowledge of topics like Spode and Beatrix Potter, and many others you mention here and there. Now, how to earn income from those talents. Could you be an authenticator for an auction house? Shame on the education system that punished you for not fitting into its ‘book learnin’’ mold. Your kind of creative mind is rare, valuable, and what brings joy to our world. You are one of my favorite people. The world is better with you in it, and you can’t say that about most of those who fit the box and never had detention! Sending gobs of love for your next chapter…

Michael so glad you are feeling better. My advice is simple. Don't be so hard on yourself. Enjoy the people around you and have some fun. I have watched you and Stephanie's channels from the beginning, and I think you all as friends. You all have graciously let us into your lives and in turn it has helped me through some tough days during the pandemic. So if you need a break to take care of yourself then do that. The great thing about friends, even the ones you have never met, we will continue to check in. We only get one life, so enjoy yours.

OMG, Michael! I've been thinking for AGES that you might have ADHD. I have it too, and when I got my diagnosis, it explained nearly everything. Welcome to the tribe. We are a bunch of misfits and oddballs but we are creative, often brilliant, funny, and interesting. I especially love my fellow ADHD friends. Sending you so many big hugs. What a huge step for you, getting diagnosed. I'm so proud of you for the changes you've made in your life. As someone who's been diagnosed for years, I just want to say that you aren't alone. There are lots of us. It's a struggle sometimes to have ADHD brains in a world designed by, and for, people with conventional brains, (I have also been called lazy, and have been fired from nearly every job I've ever had - so now I'm self-employed) but it's also an asset. When you mentioned looking around at your collection of Spode (and said that you might have a problem), I laughed so hard. Sounds about right! I've done that. Lately, I've been looking around at my disorganized chaos in my house (I've been collecting mid-century modern endtables in need of refinishing, apparently) thinking, omg, I have to get a grip on this! Like many of us ADHD brains, I "organize" in piles. The piles don't necessarily have any real logic to them other than my looking for somewhere to put a thing, and thinking, well, that pile is a bit smaller. I'll put it there for now... I know that right now, you are on that high of seeing clearly for the first time in ages, and that you feel like things will be smooth sailing from now on. I don't want to burst that bubble, because it's a pretty joyous place to be, but know that the diagnosis and medication help enormously, but they don't fix everything, and you will still have tough times. But having a diagnosis gives you a way forward and helps you strategize how to manage your life with ADHD. Know that no matter what, you are loved and we are here for you. I'm really glad you've taken time out lately to figure some things out. Not everyone has the insight or strength to do that. Sending big hugs.

I hope Michael reads your very caring, constructive comment . Your experience, since diagnosis, is very helpful and I can see that Michael is on that “ high” right now , but will need to be mindful of & learn to anticipate ways to manage the slumps, going forward . I despair thinking about how many homeless people have fallen through the cracks of life due to lack of the basic creature comforts ( family, shelter, food , love ) & hope Michael uses those advantages generously afforded him to push through and implement strategies to be grateful for , and pro active with, when he goes through the labyrinth . Diagnosis should not become his excuse for lacking self discipline & it does appear Michael has been ‘cotton woolled’ and enabled for far too long .
@VisionaryGardener
@VisionaryGardener 2 жыл бұрын
@@equatorialjourney4478 I disagree that he has been "cottonwooled". It's impossible to know what anyone's life in the past has been like, and that's a big assumption to make. Just because he shares parts of his life with us on KZbin doesn't mean that we know everything about him, or that we can judge how his life has been up to now or even what goes on when the cameras are off. People with ADHD often get accused of being "lazy" or using their diagnosis as an "excuse" for things that they are unable to accomplish. That is just plain ableism. Those who do not have ADHD can't possibly know the challenges we face trying to navigate the world. It is unfair to make assumptions like that. Please try to have more compassion for people whose lives involve struggles you can't even imagine. Our difficulties might be invisible to you, but they exist nonetheless. Just because we aren't missing a limb, or have an obvious physical sign of our difference doesn't mean that it isn't real and deserving of respect.

Micheal, you are amazing. I, myself, deal with and have always dealt with ADHD, ALL OF MY LIFE, not knowing what it was. I was diagnosed by my children's pediatrician, when my first born at seven years of age. Her pediatrician suggested that I see my general practitioner with a note feom him, suggested diagnoses of my behavior whilst in his office, which my child also exhibited. I dealt with the same problems, starting something, going onto another something, then to another and never finishing, withdrawing from people because I couldn't continue being there with all things happening in my head. I started smoking also and then to alcohol to calm my mind. Finding new and more interesting things to do "or as I thought" drawing, painting, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, creating new recipes, farming, animal anitamy, chickens, horses, baby calves, birds, grafting trees, cross breeding lilies, trying to develop a new hydrangea breed, over planting my gardens, hair and makeup artist, geesh you name it I have tried it. (Grafutaing come with a masters in fine arts and Art History. Then cosmetology school and then esthician school. Becoming a hair and make up artist, which I still love. I would collect books on MANY, MANY subjects, study them to a point, lose interest and go on to another project. I, like you could do it but grew bored and went onto other thing, once again growing tired of it. Finally, I was also put on ADHD meds and after two weeks felt pain on one side of my body, went to emergency care, and several specialist afterwards and one finally said, "maybe your right brain is in shock from now being used and trying to catch up." I am now 53 and still take meds but have had to be switched because my body has learned to mask the effect of the meds. Just the "getting on meds" and "living" with the effects of " A quite mind" has totally changed my life. I no longer jump from project to project, yet still have to remind myself to focus, and I can accomplish and finish and enjoy the end result. I, in my personal opinion, think myself and two kids, which are very artist, think is is because we want to create and keep creating. It's a never ending process within us with and without the meds. We all function fine with the meds yet still try to "be better", "help everyone", "never say no", "work way to much" and somwhow still accomplish task. We have learned to say no to others when overwhelmed and let ourselves complete a job before helping others, which is VERY HARD. It is our life, we deal, me move forward, we create, and we are happy. You will be amazing regardless because you are a phenomenal person. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, learn, "yourself before others" when it come to helping with creative things Don't stretch yourself to far. I hope I haven't said anything offensive because I certain didn't mean to be. Only sharing a bit of my experience. Hope this makes since. Keep being the amazing and wonderful person that you are, that your followers adore. Best of luck and looking forward to the cottage being complete.

There still will be ups and downs, sometimes you will “go back to your old ways” and then you will get out of it again but you will be alright. Take your time to get to know yourself and to start liking yourself. Discover all the positive sides of ADHD. It probably caused you lots of misery in your life but also it’s likely that it is responsible for your amazing creativity and other talents. You have so much to give, Micheal and you can turn things around. Please do not beat yourself up, if you have some setbacks. Learn and move forward. Congratulations on quitting to smoke. The journey can be frustratingly long, but worth it in the long run. ADHD and bi-polar diagnosis are frequently sought in adulthood, once childhood impulses & explanations no longer fit. ADHD, welcome to my world. I didn't realize it until a friend who was staying with me said, "you never finish a project before you start the next one" That has hung with me since, echoing in my head as I work around my home. Aging has helped a bit as I just don't have the energy to do anything now. I've grown comfortable in my own skin and those around me don't hold me to a high standard. I'm 72 now, was in school long before ADHD was a diagnosed condition, and always treated as a nervous little twit. Glad that medication is available now for those that have had to cope with all the confusion and rush of thoughts in their head.

I used to finish what I started and I was proud of myself. That was until I was 45 and things started to change. Now at almost 70, I have boxes of unstarted, started and unfinished projects for me to work on. Mending, quilting, painting, cardmaking....too many to mention. When I travel I buy quilt and cardmaking kits. I think my mindset is still back when I was 30 years old. Time to rethink, regroup, and refocus. I am pleased you got a doctor that was thinking like you , and didn't brush you off. I'm on a anxiety med and that helps a bit. As a retired educator, Rindalen is a scarey drug. Watch for side effects. Do the research. I always thought I may have late onset of ADHD. Suppose it's possible.

Hi Michael, I was diagnosed with ADHD two years ago at age 31. Similar to you, the symptoms had been present all my life (I excelled in art classes but fell short in any class that required a lot of memorization and concentration) but I had never connected the dots until my doctor recommended I get screened for ADHD after mentioning to him that get *very* easily distracted and have chronic procrastination issues. In fact my symptoms were so obvious that the neuropsychologist who ultimately diagnosed me was legitimately shocked I hadn't been diagnosed when I was much younger. So I totally get how you feel :) ADHD meds can have mixed results from person to person, so glad to hear the medication has been working for you!

I know I would be proud to have you as my son. Or at my age, you'd be my grandson. Either way, you hold your head up, and be proud of who you are, and all you've done. You're such a great asset to Billy, Sadie, and all you know. Your skin looks amazing. I've never been a smoker, but if smoking and then quiting would give me skin like yours, I might have to start! 😂 I'm only kidding. I'm too old now to worry abt how I look.

Hi Michael. I'm not sure if you read all these comments, but I've seen this video and had a couple of days to think if I reach out or not. Firstly well done for quitting smoking, difficult habit to stop. I wonder how you received a diagnosis so quickly, I hope you saw a specialist, to get the right information to ensure you get the right medication. If you didn't and its a might be...this could be counter productive. There are so many people who "fail" at things, or do not finish projects, or think they are useless, this does not necessarily mean they have a condition, its just part of their make up. You have an incredible skill set, and by no means useless. Comments praising you or saying how good you look may not necessarily be helpful to you in the long run, other than propping up the old ego. If you are open to advice....mine would be....seek out a good therapist who can help you understand you. To gently take you to a place where you work out why....rather than a quick fix pill. I'm not a huge fan of you, but I would not like to see any harm come your way. This video in my humble opinion had a hint of manicness through it. Take more time out, go and see someone to help you, and get healed properly. I send this with my best wishes, and if you wish to reach out I am happy for you to do that.

You are terrific! I think of you whenever I need to solve a problem. Many of my friends and I realize that we are quite ADHD (never diagnosed) and jump from project to project, neglect things, and get overwhelmed and disheartened about what we don't accomplish.......but we are still here (age 72). You are doing fine, doing what you love, with people who love you.

I also struggle with a lot of the same symptoms you are talking about. I always just assumed it was a depressive phase that would eventually work itself out as time went on, and things in my life straightened out a bit. But then as time went on, I noticed myself moving in sort of a loop that I felt was out of my control. Now, sitting here, listening to what you're going through, I may need to revisit the actual cause of my frustration, so thank you for sharing and allowing that insight into my life. Just know you aren't alone in this, you aren't a burden or lazy, you aren't what shitty people on youtube comments sections say. You bring a little light into our world, and that is more than enough. Thanks for all you do, and we're happy to see you back.

You might also want to get screened for bipolar disorder. As a child I was diagnosed as being hyperactive. I was given coffee before school and at school. And it does make me sleepy. But my problem isn’t ADD or ADHD. During the bipolar screening I felt like it described my entire life. The medication made me feel like a world of different. There are 2 types of bipolar disorder. Only one of them makes you do outrageous things. One of them makes you have longer and deeper bouts of depression with euphoria and impulsivity less high and sustained. Quicker cycling. I’m lucky it was finally diagnosed in my 50s. Hang in there!

I'm glad you went to the hospital to get checked out. When something happens like what you experienced it would have been stupid not to go in to make sure it isn't a stroke or an embolism or anything bad like that. I'm awfully relieved that you are okay. I'm also glad that you are trying to find out whether or not you have ADHD. I know so many people who have had their lives explained by medical diagnoses later on. Someone I knew discovered that she was bi-polar and it explained so much to her about what she had been going through for ages. I found out that I have DID (dissociative identity disorder) at age 31 and I tried to deny it to myself but after a while it was just obvious that it was true. I then went on to have years of therapy and am now happily living a quiet and stable life. You may not think of yourself as a success but I do. You have done some really amazing things and are a very talented man. Don't sell yourself short. Love ya tons.

Michael, so glad to see you back, I'm sure I speak for all when I say I missed you. Your vlogs are fantastic, you have a natural charm in front of the camera that not many people have and here in Ireland you would be considered a storyteller, a storyteller was always held in high esteem and their every word was held in high regard, often they were very important people in their locality and you have that gift. Telling us your story Michael is heartbreaking to hear and I hope you get some really great support from all the people here, you truly deserve it. By the way, finding out you had adult adhd and giving up the cigarettes at the same time is extremely difficult, a huge well done to you. Love your vlogs and can't wait to see the cottage develop and finish and be guaranteed we will all be there to see it finish

SO wonderful that you've been diagnosed with ADHD and I'm glad you talk about it openly. It really does explain everything. But I hope you're not building too high expectations for yourself about things suddenly becoming "normal". Yes, meds often work, but it is only a part of the solution. You just have to train your brain to find new ways to handle difficult things. It might take years to get to that point. :) Good luck with your fresh start!

Dear Michael, thank you for your brave and hopeful vlog today. ❤️I am in my 50’s and ONLY NOW have realized I have ADD. My daughter has been studying social work and in her course of study - in the psychology part of it- realized that when they discussed adult ADD, it perfectly described me! After she called me to discuss this possibility, I was resistant to this amateur diagnosis at first but upon researching it, it describes me so much and explains SO MUCH! I wish you ALL the best in your journey.

Michael, you have no idea of the lives you are touching all over the world! I am an aging spinster in the U.S. who has been enjoying your videos for the past couple of years. I get to travel vicariously and "live in" your chateau through your generous time & sharing. I too was diagnosed with A.D.D. - inattentive type - about ten years ago. So, I can certainly relate to much of what you are sharing. I started out taking Vyvanse but because of the cost, have switched to generic Adderall. The day I took my first dose of Vyvanse, I had started out my morning with my cup of coffee, sitting on my balcony staring out through my usual brain fog, then decided to go watch something on TV. As I watched, and about an hour after I took the Vyvanse, I could suddenly "see"! It's hard to describe, and for those who have been through a similar experience, they will get it. It was as if a foggy curtain had lifted, and suddenly, I felt like I could see clearly for the first time! I almost cried - with a mixture of joy and sadness - joy that I was being released from "prison" and sadness that I was just realizing the prison that I had been in for as long as I could remember and didn't even know it! I wish I could tell you that life has been all roses after that. Medication can remove the fog, and help us to gain more focus, but then I had the opposite problem - OVERfocus! I am still learning how to deal with time management and prioritizing. I do very well in the workplace, but not so much at home. Any of us who choose to share our stories and experiences will undoubtedly be helpful to someone else, so that is why I am sharing and why I thank you for sharing as well. We are ALL a work in progress!

As soon as you said, "I've figured out why I've done loads of videos, then none," I knew it was ADHD. I'm the same way. I've also done the Jack of all trades thing, the inability to do well at school, the inability to work. I know what it's like to feel like a failure all the time. it is a struggle, but there is a silver lining to it. The creativity and skills you acquire are really cool.

That’s a huge thing to learn about yourself, Michael. My partner was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 6 years old but I don’t think his parents realised the ramifications it could have, so he has gone through his whole life with a lot of frustration and probably a lot of disappointment in himself. It was his sister who sent us the referral letter from when he was a child, and that was only a couple of years ago. He still isn’t at the point where he will see someone about it but now I know, it’s helped me to be more understanding about why he does the things he does 🤷🏽‍♀️ I admire the way he has achieved the things he has in life, because now I know how bloody hard it was for him. I hope that through this new discovery you will appreciate that you have always had the resilience to see yourself through some tough situations; and that you always will, no matter the outcome or other’s expectations. All that matters in this life is that you keep doing the things that make you happy. Sending you much love 💚

Good for you! I was finally diagnosed with ADHD at age 35 and was given Meds! OMG was this a game changer. For the first time in years I was able to sleep without anxiety attacks. I also could complete projects without taking months to recover from a depression. I no longer needed a bigger project to pull me out of a funk from the last one… just one vicious circle. Now 48 and and no longer need the meds as I know my triggers and how to manage. Just a tip… get enough sleep!! Good luck to you!
