the Milk Bottle is part of the Children museum. It is open in the summer as an ice cream store. It was built years ago in a different location by Arthur Gagner to sell his ice cream. After being abandoned, folks in Boston got Hood Milk to buy it and donate in to the Library. Its Hoods, be good.

Got to say, Being a Bostonian, I'm loving ATW Boston Vids!! You could spend months here there's so much to do & video. You surely got your steps in on this video, you covered some serious ground! And you were suppose to get a cannoli at Mike's, thats what they are famous for! Please, Keep these Boston videos coming Adam!! add on, The Seaport area is the big coming area now, used to be parking lots and big old mill buildings and the train yard. The seaport is its own city within a city.

That Starbucks is refered to as the steaming kettle. It used to be a old tea house long before Starbucks took it over. There was actually a huge fight by people to keep it up there. When they first opened the location they wanted to thanks it down because they have to run a water line up there and maintain it to keep that going all the time.

The Lobster tail 🦞 pastry is supposed to be like that ,crunchy outer shell & soft white "lobstermeat" looking cream filling, that was the perfect example of a Lobstertail pastry
@rbelf001 Жыл бұрын
There were a lot better choices like a chocolate eclair. Oh, man do I miss those.
@webchief Жыл бұрын
I was just going to say that. The Lobster Tail is supposed to be crisp and crunchy outside. When going to Mike's though, you really should have gone for the canoli. That's what they're really famous for. Them and Modern Pastry up the street "compete" for the best in town. When I say compete, I really mean that people always compare and pit them against each other. Also, you briefly showed the Paul Revere statue in the video but if you looked back behind it, its the Old North Church. The church where Paul Revere arranged to have the lanterns hung up in the steeple to warn against the British arriving in the city. "One if by Land, Two if by Sea."

My brother lived in Hartford in the early 80’s. I visited him once and we spent the night in Boston. We visited that bar and had a beer. The name of the bar was The Bull and Finch. I’m surprised that there’s no sign showing that. The Freedom Trail is an amazing walk.

The FAO Shwartz was located in Copley Sq (closer to Arlington station off the green line) at 440 Boylston St. I went there a couple of times when it was open back in the day, just to browse. As for the Milk Bottle, thats been there for about 40 years. I remember seeing it as a kid, when I used to go to the Children's Museum. Hood is the brand name- local milk brand. It might be a seasonal cafe, that's why it was closed. Also you were in the area for many shooting locations for Blown Away. You are also kinda close to some shooting locations for Karate Kid 4, if you are interested. They shot some scenes in the town of Brookline at the high school. Brookline is also the home of JFK and Conan O'Brien. Regarding the Chinatown area where you mentioned that a theater could have been there- that area was known as the Combat Zone , where you had a lot of adult theaters/peep shows back in the day. Also the Tea party boat is not the actual one. The real one was much larger if I remember my history correctly. I'm not sure how long you are staying, but I can recommend other areas to visit if you are interested.
@rbelf001 Жыл бұрын
That used to be the Palace Theater where the Navy kept a paddy wagon out front every Friday and Saturday night. Jay Leno played there. Never saw him but they had some really good jazz music at that time. Close by used to be Charles Steet, a little annex next to the Prince Spaghetti House on Washington Street. They had much better-looking dancers who would join you at the bar. I was still underage then.

The Lobster tail pastry wasn't "stale". It's supposed to be crispy. If it's soft it's soggy. To keep it fresh, the filing shouldn't be piped into it until it's purchased. I've never had one with chocolate on it. My fav pastry. I miss Boston. Enjoyed watching your video of my old stomping ground.
