Oooh so sorry for you and your family. I loved seeing your Mom at the end. I still use dish towels of my Mom's that were well used back when I "inherited" them in 2005. Some were made from feed sacks back in the 30s and 40s! Cherish your memories. Glad you have 2 sisters to help you through this

Was so sorry to hear about your mom. My mom passed away on 1/5/22. She was 90 and lived a terrific life. She also taught me all about cooking, crafting, making and "homemade". Hold those memories close.

I'm so very sorry to hear that your mom passed away. I was with my mom when she died - it was a time of great sadness but also beautiful grace. My mom also taught me to knit. She was a wonderful knitter and crocheter. I still have the afghan she crocheted for me as I headed off to college 54 years ago - it is one of my most prized possessions.

Such lovely content today. My Mom also has dementia and will soon be 91. Like you, I was thrilled to find a photo of her knitting an afghan that she gifted to me just a year ago. She no longer remembers how to knit or sew, but I just tell her to enjoy her season of relaxing and reading. God bless!

Thank you for sharing your Mom with us today. I lost my Mom 3 years ago this month, so I know how hard it is and frankly, it continues to be a struggle. I have had a very blessed life and losing my Mom has been the most difficult experience I have faced in my life thus far. Thank you for the pattern, I am hoping for grandchildren in the next couple of year! Take care of your heart, keep knitting and cherish the memories and gifts on your journey. Your mom was such an amazing and talented woman, Leslie, and will be missed by not only your family but everyone who heard the stories you shared about her love of knitting and how much she taught you. She will live on through you and your sisters, not to mention your children. It is never easy saying goodbye, but you were fortunate to have shared her final hours. My mom also taught me how to knit (and my twin sister) when we were eight, yikes, 62 years ago. I got back into knitting fairly recently and think of her often. My mom passed away six years ago at age 90. Thank you for sharing so much about your mom with us. I just love your podcasts and your upbeat attitude. Your daughter, btw, is so sweet!

So very sorry for the loss of your mother. I lost my mom a year ago on Jan.3 My mom taught me how to knit and crochet when I was younger but I never made much until a few months before she passed I learned how to knit socks. I would knit on them every evening when I visited her and she was so proud of me! I knit her a pair right before her passing but with her declining health she wasn’t able to wear them. I kept them along with many things she made over the years and all her books, needles, notions…. I will treasure them always. ❤️

Leslie, You do your mom proud with all your knitting, recommendations and joy with knitting. The cookie recipe is wonderful, they are my fav. cookies. I admire your honesty and eloquence when speaking of your mom, your lives together and she as a single parent in times when that was not real common. My mom comes to me in dreams occasionally and i love those times. I know your mom will be on your mind with every stitch. I love it that you and your sisters wear her finished sweaters AND your grandmom's scarf is so much love on one daughter/granddaughter's body. Grand love!! The "home made" words are what we had..homemade cake pies clothing and Yes! Sweaters!!!

My mom taught me to knit when i was about 5 years old and i started back in to knitting as my main hobby in my early 40's after she passed away.
