Ok, thank you for the info on the hot water bottle. When I was in Scotland last year the airbnb we stayed in had wool covered hot water bottles in the nightstand AND an electric kettle. I used it every night. (Probably not safely as I didn’t know to wait till it cooled off) but it stayed warm for so long. Loved it!And I can’t wait for your vest pattern to come out. Do you put the facial treatment all over your face or just in spots. I had a precancerous spot on my forhead zapped off too. The older I get the more spots I have. 😕 happy knitting my friend! I love your classic styles and knits and beautiful yarns, who wouldn’t!!, but also LOVE that you knit with yarn from the craft store. A rare thing and something so real and something I appreciate hearing about! ❤

I had the same problem as you when it came to wearing my hand knit socks even when I switched to fingering weight with 20% cashmere. My solution was to go up 1 size in a brogue style shoe and ended up purchasing a pair of doc Martin which has changed my sock wearing to a delight. They also look great with flair style jeans. Hope you find this a solution (I was thinking I was the only one with princess feet) Really love your stylish way of dressing.

Hi, Leslie. I am a retired pharmacist who loves to knit! As far as your 5-FU cream, make sure to wash your hands after applying. It does cause rough skin after using for a few days, as you have discovered. But it should, as it is working. It won’t be long, as your treatment course is soon over. You may have to repeat courses of treatment as your dermatologist orders. Wear sunscreen from now on every day, even the cloudy days. Hope you do well during your treatment, and are on the mend soon. Love your podcast! ❤

Thanks for the PSA, Leslie. I am looking forward to your Hello Friend vest pattern, it looks as if it will be a lovely knit. Also, you may get some tips on using Nutiden from Mia (from Knit and Grace) and Jackie and Carmen (from Knitting a Good Yarn) because they have talked a lot about Nutiden (especially the ladies in the early episodes of their channel ... it seemed all they ever knit with was Nutiden!) I was sorry to see LaLaine is in Berlin. I will be in Munich next month and am always on the lookout for a new yarn shop! But I liked the Per Lei so I will be finding some yarn and making one for my son! Take care of yourself.

I have a few episodes saved in my knitting folder for working with unspun - helpful videos from Aimee Sher Makes; also Mia at Knit & Grace, Sharon of Rui Knits (the Unspun Yarn 101 episode), and Selma at Little Big Knits (ep 70) - all offer great advice and tips for using unspun. I love that scarf, lucky hubby! I’d be borrowing it 🤭😂 my parents have used cream like that on their face, they did it for about four weeks and ended up looking like they were burn victims, so horrible, but I must say it made them look so much younger. I know I’ll have to do it one day as I have compromised skin, I’m not looking forward to it, however the end results, from a vanity point of view 😬I’ll take that. Thanks for another fun episode, happy knitting and good luck with the face, Karen 🥰😘

And another 2 weeks to heal enough to be in public! Used healing moisturizer and tinted sunscreen 50! Skin looking nice and smooth now. You have a another week before it gets painful, hang in there Leslie! It beats having surgery. Had a MOHS surgery on my nose 10 years ago . Thanks again 🦋💕🧶

Dear friend Leslie, thank you very much for letting me look over your shoulder again. So good to see you doing all these beautiful things with love and fun. Your husband will already love the great scarf in case you give it away at all, because it looks very good on you too. The zipper sweater in gray could round off the scarf? My Frank doesn't want to take it off anymore and has already chosen many other colors. However, I don't like knitting a piece for the second time because then I get bored. :--)) Have a good time, your knitting friend Heike

Hi from another Pittsburgh knitter! I have not had the pleasure of working with nutiden, but I have heard other knitters recommend holding it with a strand of mohair. It doesn’t add any bulk, but makes it less likely to break. Also, for seaming or binding off, twist a few yards of the yarn to make it stronger. I am currently working on the Eva Cardigan by Petite Knit, and really enjoying it. And, I’m with you on loving the cold days to wear my knitwear, and sleeping in a cold bedroom! I have never used a hot water bottle, however, I’ll have to give that a try! (But hand knit socks are great for sleeping!)

I have several pairs of beaded earrings from them that I love. Susy was just lovely when I had lost one of those earrings in the grocery store and had given up on the store ever finding it. I was delighted to share the Nutiden with you! It's been a learning curve discovering ways to keep it from breaking, but well worth it. My sweater pattern was the Fancy, by Lamb and Kid, carrying a light sport with it, for stability. The resulting sweater is like wearing a cloud. SO comfy! I know that you've made a Fancy before, so you may want to try the Donna Jenna, which was designed from Nutiden. This pattern was a great recommendation from Andrea (Knit LA) the designer of the Party Bow. Isn't the knitting community amazing?? We weave in and out of each others lives, like wonderful knitting stitches!

I love that argyle like vest !! Wow.. the 5-fu worked like a charm for me … I did half my face and then did the other half another time , because sometimes the medicine discovers a spot to treat that you didn’t know was there .. and if it is by the mouth you want one side of your mouth to be pain free for eating and sleeping on that side while the other side is raw. If you don’t get the hamburger meat red skin you don’t have abnormal cells there. Some day … keep putting off .. I will treat my upper chest area and I can’t imagine what it will find there .. I’m sure it’s bad . I love modern medicine.. I know ladies that had to have pieces of their nose removed before this stuff came along .

OH! Your KAL sounds fun! I'm working on the Ella sweater by Katrine Hannibal. I'm cropping it some and skipping the turtleneck - just a crew neck. Using Onling No. 20 shetland wool with Valley Yarns Southhampton Mohair / Silk. Chocolate browns. A great, easy pattern for talking and knitting!

I'm joining your KAL! I love your aesthetic and would love to knit the Dartmoor with La Bien Aimee. I used her yarn in a Birds of a Feather for my sister and it was lovely to work with.

Leslie, I need to make sure that I understand your tip for changing colors of stripes in ribbing in order to have a clean break between colors. (I know what you mean about those purl stitches peeping through.) So assume I've been knitting a K1, P1 ribbed stripe in blue and I am ready to change to a white K1, P1 ribbed stripe. Do I then work one complete round of knit stitches before continuing the ribbing? Do I knit that one round in blue (old color) or in white (new color)? Many thanks!

SO sorry Vivian for the late reply! YES! A complete round of knitting in the new color! Then change back to ribbing! Then when you change colors again knit the entire round. Happy knitting friend! 🧡🧡🧡

I think it’s referred to as a purl bump… the part that shows through with the other color :)
