A full day in Lake City, Colorado | CDT Day 109

Glad you enjoyed Lake City. We stay all summer and I provide early morning rides to Spring Creek Pass. I was hoping to cross paths with you and your group but I think I missed you by 1 day, maybe 2. The RV park we stay in closes at the end of September and we head home to Texas. Nice to see the accommodations at Back Country Base Camp. I have picked up many from there but have never seen the inside. I will recommend it next year as I bring hikers into town. I hope you were able to meet pastor Jason at the Hiker Center. We have had close to 1000 hikers come through the Hiker Center this season. Enjoy the San Juan’s and keep the videos coming.

The bear story started out sounding like it was going to be a horror story, just in time for Halloween. Walking at night, in the dark, in an isolated small town, when something dark and large hurtles towards you. Out of the shadows tires squeal, and race towards you….etc etc…😄

Yep, my husband and I camped to Lake City 3 years ago and same thing, BEARS! The camp manager kept our food inside the office that night since we were in tent but on top of Jeep. This place also the one place the manager said they were to get up to foot of snow.

She was probably in New Mexico when you were in Lake City. She's been posting about 7-10 days after filming. On the other hand, she had to have been very close to being there when a bear and her three cubs broke into a Lake City home (on October 3rd) and were all killed outside by CFW.

Kelly if you read this, I just started following a guy who is attempting the triple crown all in one year. He is on his last trail, the CDT and he was just leaving Glacier in the past week. He has already had some crazy experiences with wildlife and weather. Highly recommend his channel. It is called Jaru Walks.

Beautiful colors. We drove through Lake city a week ago. There was not single leaf left on any trees between Creede and LC. On another note. I assume you are in New Mexico now. Enjoy another one of my favorite places: magical Gila River and its hot springs.

Kelly, girly there was just a bear mauling in Lake City in 10/04. LAKE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Parks and Wildlife responded Thursday night when a 74-year-old man was attacked by a black bear inside his home on the north side of Lake City after the bear and her three cubs opened a partially cracked sliding glass door and entered the home.

Sadly that mama and cubs were euthanized. They had become unafraid of humans. Very sad.
