That was a great video….man would enjoy seeing and meeting Mr. Doug… those individuals are like an encyclopedia of life and it is so important to capture those stories.

Listen carefully...these older fellows are walking encyclopedias. When they're all gone, historical facts, etc. will be lost if not recorded for future generations. Gives you an appreciation of how far technology has advanced. Most of these old tractors were durable if taken care of. Several folks in our area still keep Dad's or Granddad's tractor as a memory to the labors of past generations.

Yes Sears and Montgomery Wards sold everything way back. I remember Sears even selling brand new houses. Put your order in and the lumber and hardware would show up wherever you wanted it sent to. I still have a Montgomery Wards furnace in my home. Furnace guy said that furnace will last me longer than a new one would so l kept it!

When he talked about the milk cans. Reminded me of my late uncle, in the late 60’s they still used milk cans for “Carnation” can milk. He actually had a route that I used to ride with him. They actually had a plant in Shelby that the cans was unloaded and washed to be reloaded in the truck to exchanged with the farmers. It varies from 1 can up to 8 cans per farmers. Mostly second income instead of a full dairy

That John Deere cab tractor has a solenoid on the right side down under the seat area and of you take a 1/4” flat nose punch or a screwdriver and gently hit the center of the solenoid and it should knock it free. Then engage the solenoid every time you use the tractor. Worked for me

Jeez. I can say, 100% honestly, that I have run a hay grapple, albeit with an electric motor. The dang thing worked into the 1990's. Quite scary to be 20' feet up and shaking as the hay was hauled up, not knowing exactly which lever did what. Ahh, the good old days. 😊
