What he's proposing at 4:56 sounds like the strategy adopted by Erlang (i.e. Elixir and the other BEAM languages); they also use a per-process garbage collector to keep the GC pressure smooth (a process in Erlang is NOT an OS process but a lightweight thread). Is it possible to implement the same strategy in Julia (using Tasks maybe?); has this been discussed on some public forum?
