Somebody needs to assemble a brass brand using only budget instruments. Mix it up a little by switching everyone's preferred roles with ones they're least capable of. A bit like Portsmouth Sinfonia.

Bugler's Holiday - one of my favorite trumpet feature pieces. Simple enough (at perhaps a slightly slower tempo) for intermediate trumpeters to play decently, yet still challenging enough for professionals to show off their skills. A really fun piece to both play and listen to. Nice job on the recording, Trent. Keeping all of those staccato notes together isn't easy. Oh, that's an interesting trumpet, too.
@petersage51572 жыл бұрын
Keeping the staccato notes together is fairly simple with a solid click track. ;) This is definitely a great choice for an intro about a decent quality instrument in a sea of crap. I love everything about the piece, including the implied reference to the busman's holiday trope.

Great playing as always. I believe the rose brass leadpipes resist corrosion, because in brass, red rot occurs when the zinc degrades. With less zinc, less red rot. I read that somewhere.

As far as the rose brass lead pipe goes, it actually does make a difference compared to the regular yellow brass. Not only does rose brass give it a little bit warmer tone, but it's also corrosion resistant and less likely to get corroded as opposed to your basic yellow brass

Once the cheap trumpet 'gives up the ghost' as a trumpet, one can possibly use it as a bugle, or have it made into a nice decorative desk/end table lamp. Or just use it as a decorative wall hanger. 😉 🎺

Variations are not unique to cheap instruments. In my experience, two new bach strad 37's can sound and feel very different. But that's probably because they are hand made.
@TrentHamilton6 жыл бұрын
I think all brass are hand assembled - what differs is the conditions in which the workers operate. I imagine the people who assemble these cheap trumpets have certain quotas to fill, and so their focus is on quantity.
