Most indigenous people are pro-Chinese Kuomintang in every election because the DPP is actively assimilating them into the Hokkien majority. The GOV did an average job in preserving indigenous culture, but still better than the "Indian reservation" system in the United States.
@sean93215 жыл бұрын
@@GyacoYu pretty sure it's because KMT spent 60 years "making friends" with indigenous tribes. DDP did not have such robust connection when democracy kicked off. There's no evidence on DDP want to assimilate indigenous into Hokkien majority. On the other hand indigenous community won't be speaking Mandarin without KMT.
@GyacoYu5 жыл бұрын
Sean M Are you insulting the indigenous tribe to be dumb so that whoever "make friend" with them can force them give all their vote to them? I trust the indigenous peoples in Taiwan and believe they have enough wisdom to choose whoever good to them. The DPP portray all Hoklo (Hokkien) people to be with indigenous blood thus can "represent" the indigenous peoples. Many indigenous tribes have been annoyed by those fake indigenous claimants.

I also remember going to Hualien and traveling up Taroko Gorge and seeing little old ladies with traditionally tattooed faces. They would speak their indigenous language and Japanese (from the colonial period) but would not speak Mandarin or Taiwanese. Some of the old ladies look similar to Northern Ilokanos living at the northern tip of Luzon. This is super interesting.

@Ho Chi Wang don't you think that's irrelevant? It's common knowledge that the migration to Lu Zhong 魯中 came from Formosas. People move all the time. What's interesting is how similarities of peoples and cultures have been preserved. In the mountain province, the same color dress and dance are still practiced.

@Ho Chi Wang, We Filipinos are not like China or Chinese our Government do not claim properties that do not belong to us. Also, If one is to look at the Austronesian and Polynesian DNA, the Filipinos of the northern part of the Philippines and the natives in Taiwan are related. That is a simple fact that cannot be altered by either the Communist Party of China nor the Kuomintang.

Very few Taiwan Chinese are of aborigine heritage, most are straight-up Chinese from a genetic standpoint, 100% Han Chinese. If taiwanese want to say they are Taiwanese not Chinese, then I can say I'm Zhejangnese, not Chinese. Both are Austronesian tribes anyways. That and historical trade between Ninbo and Japan Hakata cannot be ignored.

Taiwan seems to be changing its identity from Chinese to Taiwanese aborigines. Mainland China must also be divided according to each ethnic group if it is to escape dictatorship.
