I've had mine (carbon fiber-full size) for about a year now, and unfortunately I've been forced to retire it due to the unacceptably weak lockup. Sorry guys. A folding hunter should be able to take at least some pressure on the spine without failure. Almost lost a finger as a result... (was cutting thick cordage for some planters, lock failed) Now... my medium version (also carbon fiber) is going strong as ever in the pocket of a friend who I gifted it to. The lockup on that one was much tougher and I personally had no issues with it. I gave it away because a friend was needing a good work knife. Planning on picking up a wharncliffe lock-back for belt carry since I've stopped carrying knives clipped. Speaking of, will your new side draw/horizontal sheaths fit the wharncliffe lockback?

Now the lock shouldn't ever be failing on you. Is the pocket lint or debris in the lock notch (the part where the lock bar interacts with the notch in the blade)? If that is cleaned out and the lock is still weak, send it back to us and we'll replace it. agrussell.com/contact#returns For the Horizontal sheaths - are you talking about item # LS-025BK? Yes the Wharncliffe lockback fits in snugly with the right orientation. @@AGRussellKnivescompany Ok, so after finding a bit of discoloration in the lock-faces I gave it a good 'spa treatment' and actually found the lockup to be significantly better. Must have been some sort of build up I never noticed. Sorry for the harshness, I still think it's a genius and very pragmatic design. Personally, I think those are qualities the knife industry is lacking these days. It all seems to be about limited editions and custom handle scales but nothing about good old fashioned cutting performance...

@@SurvivorEH28 Good! I'm glad that worked for you. I'm working on a video for knife maintenance that will help keep knives in top condition. Hopefully I'll have that done by the end of next week. Limited editions and collecting definitely have their place (honestly it's what keeps the knife industry alive), but a good company will find a balance and will offer excellent cutting tools designed for performance. We like to think we keep a good balance.

Not at this time. We're pretty happy with the performance of 9Cr13CoMoV, we have good heat treatment, and I've gotten a lot of notes from satisfied customers. Try one out and see how you like it.

I'm sure that it's a nice quality knife but i think that for 85 dollars you should get a better steel
