Joey was more expensive than a PetCo ferret. I am okay with that though because of the quality of care he was given at such a young age. I have a lot of respect for the breeder I purchased him from.

My cat was in my lap when I watched this, and then she sat up and started looking at the screen. I wondered why she sat up suddenly but then she started to scratch on Joeys head on the screen! She followed Joeys movement on the screen and wanted to play!

So all of the messes are just within the cage itself and not when they are out in the house, correct? I would maybe try rearranging the cage so that all corners that they are messing up in are blocked. You can block areas with water bowls that attach to the cage or toys, etc. Be sure when you do clean that you are doing as much as you can to get rid of the scent in that spot so they are less likely to return to it.You may want to start rewarding with treats when they do go in the box as well.

For rice just a large bag of jasmine (long grain) Rice will work. Just make sure it's not broken or short grain rice, as well as no instant rice. They can cause problems for your fuzzies.

DO you know anything about ferret farms? I think most petco ferrets come from farms ( I am not sure if the Private breeders are related ) but I do know that the farms over breed and a lot of ferrets grow up with problems. Most of mine had cancer...Do you know what the life time expectancy of one from a good breeder would be? Also we should make videos and a petition somehow to ban ferret farms. Its sad when Some one gets a ferret but later gets sick out of the blue...What are your thoughts?

What are some good safe toys for ferrets, I just got two from a lady they are 3 years old, and are not real active I do not think she let them out of their cage much. Apolo and Lily are slowly coming around, but i would love to make them more happy ? Thank you Tracey

I just went to BJ's or COSTCO and got a really large bag of uncooked rice. I can't remember exactly what brand or anything because its been a while. :O) For the play stand, just search google for "WARE Three Story Ferret Condo" and it should pop up for you. Joey loves it and plays with it everyday.

Thank you so much for your video on deaf ferrets. We just unknowingly purchased a deaf ferret, but of course we see him as absolutely perfect in every way. I'd like to see more videos and tips for training your deaf ferret. We have trouble getting him to come. I have tried patting the floor so that he can feel the vibration, and luring him to me with a treat. He does not respond to a laser light. Progress is slow. How long would you say it takes to train a ferret a trick in comparison to a dog?

Kristen Apple it takes a lot longer. Some tricks take a month or 2 to teach Joey. Their brains are distracted so much more e than dogs and their attention span is very short. This is why i only train Joey 5-10 min per day. One tip is to be sure your ferret has played a lot before you train them. This helps get some energy out and gets them to focus a little better.

PetCo ferrets are from Marshall Farms. I personally prefer privately bred ferrets or rescues. There is no guarantee that a privately bred ferret will be healthier or outlive a farm ferret, but I think the odds are better that they will. I just like that I know my breeder works hard to produce healthy ferrets. For my videos though, I plan to stick to ferret health topics and, of course, training!

I am in desperate need of help!! I have four ferrets and the most recent that I got was making accident all over the cage and they are all copying him. It makes cleaning the cage alot harder and alot more time consuming... Do you have any tips???? We have two litter boxes and they use the bathroom 3-4 other spots... I need them to stop because I have to clean their cage every morning before I go to school and it takes almost 30 minutes. And I know it should only take about ten. Please Respond!!!

There is just one flaw of the ferret nation cage that is dangerous for the ferrets. Its a shelf/floor.Some owners dont know of the prob. I dont know if ferret nation fixed the problem or not but some people are covering the edges(clothes,electircal tape). Have you heard of the faulty shelves? I did a KZbin search on it and it was surprising. Since many ferret owners visit your channel, maybe you can make a video of how to make cages safe for them. unless there already is one and I missed it :)

My ferret Thor Loves his Rice Box !! I got a Large Clear Rubbermaid Bin with Lid, filled the Bin almost half with a mix of Short grain and long grain White rice. I Cut a Ferret Size Hole in the Lid, and melted the edges of the hole smooth with a lighter so they were not sharp. My ferret can Jump in and out of the Rice Bin whenever he wants, and no other cats can fit in His hole. It is ONLY for Ferret playtime :-) Cost.... Rubbermaid Bin $ 18.00 Rice $ 35.00 Total = $ 53.00 (Ferret Fun Forever!!!) :-)

I am confused now cause everything I read says to give them raw chicken with the bones. Do you only have one ferret? I only have one and I think he is fine. He plays all day with the dog and the cats and me and my grandkids.

+petmom ful Yes if the bones are in the chicken it needs to be raw. Cooking bones is unsafe for any animal because it makes the bones flexible and can splinter inside your pet causing a medical emergency.
