So sad to see Hayden today as compared to the thriving town I grew up in during the 70's. So many memories and history here.

Great video and information! Out of curiosity, I checked house prices there and am stunned. A completely burned out and destroyed 1800 sq ft house - $99K. All the prices are high... I wonder why? Perhaps the mine had to buy out residents, doesn't want to sell them because of toxic liability? Weird.

My father worked at Kennecott Copper there in 1953 or so. I was 2 years old so I don't remember anything about it. Interesting to see what it has become.

Drove through here the other day... interesting place. If they really cleaned it up it would seem like a nice place to live... but it's just so contaminated and driving through it felt like Gary or Detriot..

Wow, I’m surprised the population is even in the 500s with how abandoned it looks! Is there even a grocery store there?
@RuizR.87 Жыл бұрын
There's a small one in Winkelman. Other than that, you have to go to Kearny, up to Globe, or towards Tucson.

Is there a lake near Hayden?
@RuizR.87 Жыл бұрын
Closest "lake" is near Kearny about 8 miles away. The best lake to go to is Roosevelt Lake. We do have the Gila River that flows through.

They do have a serial arsonist running around and I guess the State and County authorities have decided to let the town burn. It is not right!

Excuse me but for the residents who still live here this is very sad. And believe when I say that we who have always had a great love and great pride in our little town didn’t trash it The mining companies mostly Asarco Grupo Mexico let this community down the last strike that lasted over a year to no good avail to their employees and to the union all but destroyed our town. So I ask unless you know our story refrain from negative feedback

@@josieabitia4303 Josie, so sorry about your home town! A wonderful place to live and raise a family. Beautiful scenery and history. Another Arizona Jewel. Greetings and well wishes from Morenci.
