When my son bought home a whippet puppy (against my wishes) I bought a floor to ceiling cat tree for our then 10 year old cat as an escape route and safe place for her. She didn’t like it straight away and I thought we had just invested in an expensive ornament. But very soon she loved it and has done ever since. She is now nearly 19 and the whippet has learned that she is queen of this castle!

He did behave badly towards her in the early years. We tried feeding them together to not show favouritism but he snapped at her and barked and he chased her up the stairs. She and we lost our trust in him so they are now always supervised and feeding happens in separate rooms. He has over the last 9 years learnt to respect her.

@Cray Fishe Harvey the whippet is a Pedigree and came to us at 4 months old. We so wanted him and our cat to get along and tried everything but she gives him a wide berth now. He is like most whippets, either totally energetic or completely lazy. But they still need supervision. We do love both of them.

As much as we love your Fosters, it's nice to see the permenant residents having fun with their new giant Cat Tree, Catio, and swanky Loft Apartment ( which I'm sure could generate income on Airbnb.). These Kits knew what they were doing when they chose their hoomans - pretty sweet life. I'm always astounded by the size of Monkey and Thunder, and I love how each Cat has about 5 nicknames. ❤️😻👍

That is a lovely cat tree! This kitty mom has one suggestion - 3 floating shelves at various point on the wall that would enable them to walk across the wall from the far side to the cat tree. You wouldn't have to move the cat tree out at all and they would have access to the tree from any point in the loft!

Love it, love it, love it --- lucky kitties!! Have a gray female who is always bored and always needing extra, extra .... I actually hire a babysitter to walk her on a leash and play with her! You guys know -- don't you -- the climb has just begun -- they are going to need a walking platform just under the loft and you're gonna need a ladder to get up there to sometimes wipe it all down. How Fun ! Thanks for sharing.

@@waltman333 awww, is that Trimpy in the photo? Or your current cat? Kiki had a little sailboat shaped white spot on his nose, but besides that they have the exact same face shape, look in the eyes, and white collar. Kiki passed in February, he was almost 14. Cats are amazing. I adopted a 14 year old cat named Hendrix a week after Kiki Wiki passed. He is so sweet and grateful, and really helped me deal with the loss. Best wishes to you too.

If you put a "shelf" across the top of the window, going around that pillar won't be such a worry. It'll provide an alternative route to get down especially if you put another tree, alternating shelf "steps" or even a leaning ladder on the other side of the window. I love that loft. Wish I had one for my krewe!

I was just thinking about Mr. T, a teenager I brought home after my 12+ passed away. He was a tree-dweller while Sammy wasn't. He claimed the tallest cabinet as his...having to jump onto the counter top to cross the refrigerator on his way to utopia. If I had my own place, it wouldn't have been a problem. Sadly, I returned the big baby. Lovely to see such climbing devices are available.

That's the best cat tree I' ve ever seen. !!! Love the holes on the different levels. It's easier for the cats to climb to the top.. The kit Cats will have so much fun !!! Were did you get it from ? A long time ago I saw you playing with your cats and you were throwing little lightweight balls and they would stick to them. I have been unable to find anything like this. It was so cute...they would walk around with a little ball stuck on their head. Like I said it was a long long time ago. Do you remember? We buy those little fuzzy balls at a dollar store here in Vancouver and we have seen them at some art supply stores too, though they are cheaper at the dollar store, I don't know the commercial name for them though but I think they were in the crafts section of the dollar store, it's been a while since we bought any.

The older they get the more they won't go up this high. When my cats were around 10 they no longer climbed my high tree. Then one was wrestling with his sister, fell off the bed and broke his hip! Not much of a fall at all. That needed an operation for over a thou, but then he was OK.
