I had a snapping turtle come into my yard a few years back. She left on her own. A couple of months later, I found two babies. My kid and I took them down to the creek behind the house. The next year, 2 snapping turtles showed up in my yard. I always wondered if they were the two babies. They didn't lay eggs but I always kept an eye out and walked the yard before I cut the grass.

@Cmd Dowd A few years ago, on October 30, it started to snow. My dog was out in my yard barking like crazy. I went to look why, and he was barking at two Tiger Salamanders that were cuddled together. I live out in the country, far away from other people, in an arrid dry grassland area. There are no Tiger Salamanders around here normally. Yet here were two huddled together for dear life. They don't usually do that. I'm the kind of person who took them indoors, put them in a warm wet terrarium for the winter and took care of them until Spring. They would have died. I set them free in a pond 40 miles away from where I live. So....Why Me? Because there is a God. He sent them to me for safekeeping. Same with the turtle in the above video.

Years ago when my daughter were 5 and 6 years old we were playing in the park and I noticed a Great Horned Owl flying into this bunch of bushes and said lets go check it out. We walked over very quietly and I pulled back a branch and there a huge mama and two little owlets. They just stared at us with those big eyes. We didn't stay long just a minute or so and slowly backed away and left them alone. Just getting a little peak at nature while doing no harm.

I rescued 7 on a major hwy. Stopped with flashers on...got them, and someone else stopped and he helped. (box turtles) I took them all home, fed them night crawlers, fruit and greens, then took them to a place wayyyyyyy out by a slue bridge away from people and let them go. Plenty of water, grubs, bugs etc. One was really special, I could hold him and he would eat and always came to me when I sat down. I was such a fan of MCR back in '06. So surprised to see Frank Iero in this video. Way cool. My dad had an in-ground pool put in not long before my husband and I were married. My parents vacationed with us on our honeymoon and when we got back my dad found baby snapping turtles in the pool skimmer bucket. They were all alive thank goodness and Southeastern Reptile Rescue told us to take them down to the creek and let them go. It was pretty awesome.

I reminds me of when a family of mockingbirds made their nest and had their hatchlings outside a window that my kids could look right into. It was a little miracle happening before their eyes. They're both in their 30s now but have never forgotten watching those parent birds feed their hungry babies. The kids in this video will forever remember the miracle of the mama turtle and her hatchlings. I believe, like my kids, they will always have a reverence and wonder for nature.

Frank Iero has been very concerned with animal safety since he was a kid himself, he's a vegan because he doesn't want to consume any animal products, so his kids very likely are raised in a household that actively and openly promotes care for animals. They also have a bunch of dogs!

When I was a kid I had two baby painted turtles and the boy died. I was upset with myself and I sadly walked my surviving female turtle down my long driveway and across the road and let her go in the pond. She grew fast and came back year after year and laid her eggs under my basketball net. It made me so happy that she would come back but it also boggled my mind that a tiny baby turtle would remember the direction from the one time trip of walking her from my house to the pond. I love turtles, keep them in the wild where they belong.

In this case the eggs did appear to be missplaced from the desirable setting. People know that ALL amphibian & reptile habitat is shrinking & imperilled. If this family gave the mini- turtle family a leg up here, what's the harm? The children had a ring side seat on something completely wonderful. They may end up committed to the small creatures that are in peril by becoming biologists or some such! Way better than becoming slaves to the hypnotic digital virtual world, which for many remains passive not active entertainment. Good on ya ALL...turtle & human

Do NOT be that idiot that grabs an egg out of a perfectly healthy nest, or grabs their kid a baby turtle from a wild pond.* *I live in a townhouse complex and a few times a dad will drop their kid off with a wild baby snake or turtle in a bucket that they definitely did not discuss with the kids mother before they drove away. The rest of the kids find out and they knock on my door to find out what it’s supposed to eat or what it needs. Then I have to get all the details of where they got it from, explain why it can’t live in a bucket and have them choose to let me keep it safe for the night, then go find where it used to live. (Usually getting bitten by a 100 mosquitos for my efforts) 🤣 Now Snail rescues are my specialty! - holes will fix themselves, but if you’re gonna keep it safe for a week or two you need LIVE MOSS not a handful of grass! Snails don’t eat grass, they eat tiny critters and algae. It’s slugs that eat your mom’s garden, not really snails.
