Hot hatchbacks as you will know by now are my life! On the other hand, I'm a mad dinosaur that loves big heavy machinery that can tackle anything that gets thrown at it!
..... and here we have the all new 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor, Ford's answer to the largest pickup vehicle in Europe; yes I said Europe because Stateside they are no stranger to these beasts
Although, we can now buy something this large on UK roads unfortunately we don't get the same treatment to the engine/gearbox as the fellow Americans
So, the natural question that will be asked is .... what is the point? Watch to find out
Big thanks to the team at Ford UK for working with us once again, truly blessed!

@PocketRockets Just love the soft middle section of the suspension(not active suspensión as far as I'm aware!). Nose diving behind another car with headlights at their rear mirror height surely makes you noticed. Jajaja. Engine is perfect for Europe diesel prices. Motorway 100kmh at 9l/100km and 13,5l/100km at off-road and illegal speeds. And max speed of 170kmh will surely drop costs for tyres. Just love mine. Flappy paddles with 10 speed gearbox and low engine noise are hard to operate at optimum efficiency. But it works great for me in automatic. And shifts quicker in sports mode. Running 256hp/656Nm and don't feel like I need more. Rear wheels drift is very controlable, just need to drive it like you would off-road. Snow is great. I was the only one inany places. So many 4x4's(or disguised 2x4's) just drift 1 front and 1 rear wheel due to their fancy low profile road tyres. It's the perfect active leisure vehicle. And one that impresses clean as well as dirty. And stops you to worry about traffic bumps. And which other 50.000€ sedan BMW, AUDI, MERCEDES would give me the same package and smile? I personally don't see one. Weird though that there are no pressure indicators. But really love and share your end thoughts.

@PocketRockets

Thanks for watching and stopping by Chris! Unfortunately, this will be the only video I'm afraid; however I did some off roading and can report that it was terrific 🙌 Reason I didn't do a separate off roading review was mainly due to lack of cameras - didn't think it would be suitable having just the one camera of me in the cabin talking and explaining the experience with nothing recording on the outside (the green lane, mud, puddles etc) I want to get some more cameras to provide a more dynamic feel and your feedback has definietly kicked me in the arse to get it sorted for the future If you have any questions about the Raptor, I'm more than happy to answer any on here or shoot me a message over on my Instagram My good friend Aaron over at Car Obsession had the Raptor for a week a while back and actually took it to a full blown off roading course where he stretched it's legs; you can see from the footage that the Raptor walked through it with ease

@PocketRockets 10 speed gearbox is faultless. 2l diesel is more than enough to get you moving and or towing. It's decent on fuel and sounds very good for a disel motor. I've only had about 30 cars in my time so I may have some experience.

@adiscomedia2306 Have you driven the latest Ranger Raptor? The V6 ecoboost alone is a better match to the application Didn't say it wasn't capable of towing, I said compared to a standard Ranger, it doesn't tow as much What does your experience have to do with my own opinion?

Oh not a fan? I like both generations personally - the biggest things for me with the new Raptor is the engine (seems Ford watched my video too 🙈👍🏼) and the interior is a massive step up too Looks will always be subjective, a position I don't envy for any manufacturer Thanks for watching 👍🏼
@underballbutter
@underballbutter 10 ай бұрын
@PocketRockets objectively stepped up on interior quality and engine but fell off a cliff with exterior design. Beauty is also Ovjective. Most trucks this generation went down in terms of styling but especially Ford. Hopefully they fix it with a mid generation face-lift. They fucked up the Fiesta and the Mustang too.

One of the worst car review I have seen, and we have to ask do we take seriously a car review from a guy that don’t even have the mechanical ability to open a roller load cover, you make it sound like it is massive, it isn’t, one moment you are again on about it being huge and the next you are saying it is cramped and why do they put 3 seat belts in it, make you mind up. Yes I am sure it would be great with a big engine in it, but I think this engine is pretty dam good, and dose a very good job considering the size of the Raptor and not forgetting this truck has 285 tyres on it, put all that together and you still get 8.5 to 9.0 litres per 100 km and that is very good. If you are going to do reviews on trucks you need to understand what they are designed for, of the 1000,s of Km that has been done in the harsh conditions where I live on and off road and on the harsh gravel roads that tear up the best of the best there has been no major problems with this 2.0 L bio turbo engine, or of the Raptor for that matter. The gearbox in a truck meant for 50 x 50 on and off road is not designed to shift up like a F1 race car, but what it is designed to do is operate smoothly in a wide spectrum of situations in high or low range, and how you tell if it is a good gearbox for a 4x4 is that if you cruise into a 90 beg corner or over a roundabout you put your foot on the gas and you find the truck is in the right gear that is a gearbox that is mated very well to a 4x4 engine, the 10 speed in the Raptor is pretty much spot on in my opinion. I only got 1/3 of the way through your vid, I couldn’t watch any more, but to be quite honest I am sorry but I do not think you are qualified to review this type of car, you should stick to reviewing road cars maybe.
@PocketRockets
@PocketRockets 2 жыл бұрын
1) it's Mechanical Sympathy not ability 2) it a pickup designed/marketed/built to tackle all terrain 3) if you think me not showing "mechanical ability" to a tailgate, do you drive a car? 4) Do you ever squeeze 3 people into a back of a car ? You're missing the point, yes it's a big truck but still isn't practical for 3 people to sit in it! 5) it's the wrong engine for this APPLICATION, its not a van it's a over 2 ton pickup 6) Pretty sure in the video I reviewing on a road, so my review is based on that meaning the tyres, gearbox and other things mentioned are not suitable 7) Most Raptors that are sold in the UK are not used to go offroad they are used to go from work to home or a building site, that's why I said you are better buying a normal Ranger in most cases as its cheaper and a more all-rounder 8) You need to understand that I have a vehicle for a week, 5 days of that I work a full time job so I don't have time to do 1,000's of miles to pleasure your reviewing needs You have attacked me making out I've said the Raptor is crap, I HAVEN'T! I've said it's flawed but I love it And usually if you comment on someone's work you'd be reasonable and respectfully not only in your response but to actually watch the entire thing before making judgement When you set up a channel, dedicate time and money, get vehicles from manufacturers or other sources, I'd like to see you do better and I'll come along and heavily criticise your work in a wrongful manner Until you make 'YOUR' perfect review, don't come back

@biglogied5142
@biglogied5142 2 жыл бұрын
@@PocketRockets Sorry i just found the video very contradicting. Because in one hand your saying the engine is crap, then you come up with a bunch of positives for the vehicle and half of it is due to the low weight decent power engine combo with low emissions, decent torque. Provides relatively the same torque as the v6. Don't need huge power to get out of trouble. E.g you say the engine is a real let down then at 17:27 your talking about how well it got out of trouble? lol thanks to what pushing the wheels? - Its not all gearbox, suspension.... as someone mentioned in comments your not really experienced enough to review this vehicle. Stick to the urban vehicles... and maybe reference how australians review 4x4 ute's - They cover everything, not the glossy bits and no little biased rants about small engines.
@PocketRockets
@PocketRockets 2 жыл бұрын
@@biglogied5142 How is finding positives and negatives of a vehicle, me being contradictive?! Again, just because you think the engine is adequate doesn't mean I have to agree No matter if the torque is similar! A V6 compared to a 4 pot diesel is a completely different experience, what don't you understand You need to stick whatever it is you do in your spare time apart from being a keyboard warrior, so don't tell me what to do! Like I said to other #OT in the comments, come back to me when you set up your own automotive channel and I'll drop by and give my ten pence worth on your opinions

And you're forgetting it's my opinion Dave, I have driven other performance pickups with the correct engine configuration so that's why I made that statement Again you're missing the point of this truck, it's like buying a Mustang with a 2 litre EcoBlue, it will be more than enough but it's not better than a V8 that belongs in it Instead you're now moaning at me for simply having a different opinion to you 🤷🏽‍♂️
@angrycheese
@angrycheese 2 жыл бұрын
No mate you're missing the point. The 2.0 tt is perfect for the UK. I know I've owned my Raptor since last June and I wouldn't want a V6 or V8 with UK fuel prices the way they are. Nor do I need more power. Stick to your ST if it's power you want. The Raptor's 2.0tt is perfect!
@PocketRockets
@PocketRockets 2 жыл бұрын
@@angrycheese Of course it's fine if you're using it on a daily basis! Just because you live it, doesn't mean the engine choice is correct It's been branded/marketed as a Raptor but uses a 4 pot diesel, what don't you understand?! It's not about having more power; it's the experience & character of it! If you drove an actual Raptor you'd understand but you clearly don't; instead, you come back with the same response as me "You're missing the point" You've spent £45-50k on in theory a pointless pickup that has been branded to pretend to be something it's not (unless you solely off-road it every day), it has less payload capacity and you can't claim VAT off the purchase (the most important out of all three considering its target market) And you're arguing about fuel prices when diesel is as expensive as Petrol?! If it's perfect for you, then fine it doesn't bother me, you're entitled to your thoughts! Just like I am, but you've ultimately found this video just pick out the things you don't like hearing instead of viewing the video constructively I'll stick to whatever car I want, thanks
