I don't have a lot of experience with bettas, but from my brief experience, it's always a risk that they won't tolerate other fish in a small aquarium. I have a Fluval Flex 15, so triple the space of your Aquatop. I first put two platys in the aquarium, and then added a female betta. The first one I tried chased around the platys constantly, and one was dead the next morning. So I returned the betta (thanks, Petsmart, for your return policy) and exchanged it for another female. Same problem. I didn't wait for a disaster this time; I netted her out and returned her. I want to try one more time, but this time with advice I saw on another KZbin video. Take the betta you are considering, and put its cup next to that of another betta. If it ignores the other one (as opposed to flaring its gills and trying to attack it), its likely to be more tolerant of other fishes.

I had to thumbs up this one about 36 seconds in.. right when you mention that Joanna is gonna aquascape it. I've seen her aquascaping videos before. Darn she's good. Version 2.0 is definitely better than the first layout. I sure hope Sunflower stays chill. That's an awfully small glass box to put him in with those tasty looking endlers LOL. Is that substrate flourite? I recently started using black diamond blasting abrasive. It's really inexpensive. If you have a Tractor Supply near you. I think I paid $10 for a 50 pound bag. It's chemically inert, requires very little rinsing and so far I've had no problem growing plants in it. I do use liquid fertilizer (Flourish Comprehensive, Advance & excel) and roots tabs (seachem) near the swords, crypts and other root feeders.
@PrimeTimeAquatics4 жыл бұрын
So far he's ignored the endlers. Hoping it stays that way, but i agree we are pushing the lower limits regarding tank size and mixing the two. The substrate is cheap Top Fin sand, which has worked well. I haven't used the black diamond sand, but might at some point. : -)

N-butyl cyanoacrylate (n-BCA), octyl cyanoacrylate and 2-octyl cyanoacrylate are used in medical applications, like for sealing some cuts instead of stitches. Methyl 2-cyanoacrylate (MCA) and ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate (ECA) are industrial grade sold generally as just CA (cyanoacrylate). Cyanoacrylate adhesive is frequently formulated with ingredients such as fumed silica to make it more viscous or gel-like. Other additives are used such as rubber in Loctite's "Ultra Gel" to increase shearing strength. Cyanoacrylates rapidly undergo chain-growth polymerisation in the presence of water rendering them inert by forming long, strong chains.

Hi, I was debating what tank to get and after watching this video I settled on the Aquatop. This is going to be my first tank using live plants for a beta. Was the light on this tank sufficient for plant growth in the long run? Also you mentioned you were going to replace part of the filter with filter floss. Is that necessary also to achieve plant growth in this tank?
@PrimeTimeAquatics3 жыл бұрын
We have been able to grow low light plants in the tank without any issues. The filter floss is really for mechanical filtration of the water. It doesn't have an impact on plant growth.
