Like the message from the movie, collateral beauty is an awakening to the under appreciated awe that we either ignore, miss, or are just simply unaware of as we sort through our confusion, hurt, and/or pain. That's the simple grace of this piece of music. I read tonight about a couple who documented and photographed the full 11 days that they were able to share with their premature son before he ultimately passed and it hit my heart hard. Life, despite it's challenges and trials, is still the single most valuable asset we hold day to day, moment to moment. While time often is the thought most often used to fill that pedestal and tomorrow is certainly not promised, time without life is void and the opposite of that equation would be completely inaccurate and simply untrue. My prayer for this hurting world is that in it's most devastating moments, sorrowful hearts find comfort and that broken lives find solace. I pray that everyday, those who mourn feel love and memories soften the edges of fractured souls. Through the pain, love awaits no matter how unbelievable that may feel within a moment that struggle persists. Sometimes, life is measured in days and in years. Sometimes it's measured in hours and minutes. No matter it's duration, it's impact resonates forever and for hearts hurting everywhere, hurt as you need to. It's a natural part of "the process", but in those thoughts tucked far away behind the grief, your pain, know that in the end, love is what ultimately survives. My prayer tonight is that life need not sting to open your hearts to the simple joys and gifts that await. May peace be an ever present companion.

It's like you can hear the intended sadness and remorse, just through the way the keys are played. They come off shaky and dark, the way you feel when upset, and it's absolutely beautiful in every way. I love this so much. It's wonderfully amazing.

A lot of people can use a piano but what you did was playing....there was so much passion you can tell when someone's using a piano and when someone's playing a piano....you were playing a piano!
@supermasterfighter10 жыл бұрын
You know playing isn't that hard, I've got the original sheet music and can do this, I could in my first months if the song came out then lol. You have to practice and play with a passion, but there will be frustrations

if u look close enough, and listen close enough, u can see the notes he is playing, and hear the ones you can't see him play. That's the great thing about video... you don't need sheet music to learn it, because u can watch them play it, and imitate that yourself. I'm learning this now :D Beautiful song.
@supermasterfighter10 жыл бұрын
Like I said, you need sheet music, otherwise your not learning it, get a piano teacher around your age, as in, if your 20, get at 25 year old teacher, not a 56 year old, and learn how the piano works, it's an instrument to be respected, not faked
@DansFitness4 жыл бұрын
@@supermasterfighter Apparently you don't know that playing by ear being is a skill.. just like sight reading. I'm not saying don't learn the piano properly but there is no need to discriminate someone that plays by ear. I play both ways, by sight reading and by ear.
@supermasterfighter4 жыл бұрын
DansFitness first off, this comment was from like, 6 years ago. Second off, learning by ear means you are not learning how to play the piece the way the piece was intended, so you’re not really learning it, just an imitation of it.
@Tommo0207884 жыл бұрын
@@supermasterfighter if your assertion is that reading the music is meant to give you a better idea of how the original artist intended it to be played, I disagree completely. The written music is technical in nature, and it is always varied whilst playing, depending on the artist playing it. The written music doesn't account for the tiny "imperfections" each artist ads to the music whilst playing it (including the original artist themselves). So in actuality, the only way you could possibly play a piece of music "as it was intended" by the original artist, is to listen to how the original artist actually played it. Not just look at technical sheet music. If you plan to play it as it was intended to be played, you have to listen to it being played as it was intended to be played (the original artist playing it), otherwise, ur just a robot playing sheet music, without the (intentional) "imperfections" which are exactly what makes each artist and their "intentions" unique. P. S, reading the music, or playing by ear, weather played as the original artist intended, or with your own style/mood changes, it is all "imitating". You aren't the artist, and can't be the artist. You can only imitate the artist.
@Tommo0207884 жыл бұрын
@@DansFitness thanks. It does seem like this guy thinks learning by ear is inferior to learning by reading the sheet music, particularly if you want to "play it as it was intended". I don't think it's even possible to play someone else's song "as it was intended" without actually listening to them play it, and taking notice of the "imperfections" that deviate from the sheet music. Those imperfections are really what show "how it is intended to be played". Sheet music is limited by its technical boundaries, and serves as a template. The person playing then comes along and makes that music into their own art piece. Like a painting. U could look at a template showing how to draw a hand, but when it comes to actually drawing that hand, no two artists are ever the same unless you are actually trying to "imitate" how another artist drew it. Not that I think you even need to play it "as it was intended to be played". Lots of artists enjoy making their own variations of another artists song.

If you get one, learn how to play it( no fake books or shitty transcribes, sheet music all the way), and, drop some serious cash on a Steinway, and treat it like your own mother, father, wife, children, closest friends, and your baby, because if it's the instrument for you, then you know you will succeed with it, and make sure to keep practicing, and, get a piano teacher, around your age atleast

The reason it isn't is because the world doesn't appreciate the keyboard anymore, piano is the basis of all instruments, you need to Master it before you can master the synthesizer, guitar, or even an organ (organ and piano are two completely different things)
