the way they all express themselves so differently while singing yet correspond so well with each other always amazes me. to me, for example, the situation that the song speaks of could be a love story where the relationship is threatened when one of the people is close to leaving the other person. Mitch's facial expressions make me think of the daze and confusion the person being left in the relationship would be feeling. Scott represents the hopelessness Kevin represents the stoic, brave face that one might try to put on to cover all of the pain Avi represents the anger and frustration and Kirstie, not only is she representing the pain felt, but also is placed in the center of the scene, making it appear as if she is the embodiment of all the other emotions and she's fighting with all of her feelings.

I love that the members of PTX aren't slaves to a capella. They use whatever skills their members have. They let Kevin break out the cello now and then. I also like that none of them are trapped in particular roles: they swap off on lead vocals. They know Kevin does best as beatboxer cuz he's got a wicked beatbox, but he has golden pipes too that they showcase. They're so creative :)

This song makes me tear up almost every time. Kevin's beatbox/chello skills are phenomenal, and Avi kills his part, but Kirstie blows me away. She pours so much heart into this song, and really shows off how inhuman her vocal range is. When she hits that 3:40 to 4:20 section my heart stops every single time. I really wish she would solo more.
@oliviamurphy94829 жыл бұрын
+SQUEAK I'm with you 100%. I looked in the comments of this video to see if there were any responses on her actual performance. More people had something to say about Avi's or Kevin's voices than about hers, when it's HER solo. Reminds me how overlooked she really is in the group. Her appearance is kind of the only thing she really gets acknowledged for, and that's a shame because she is every bit as talented and valuable to the group. Just frustrating :(
@squeak20929 жыл бұрын
+Olivia Murphy Someone finally said it! It makes me really upset that the only comments she gets in this video are about her eye or something. She has such an amazing voice(in my personal opinion the best of the group), and can hit notes none of the others can, like in this song or Water, but everyone considers her just a pretty face. It makes me sad
@oliviamurphy94829 жыл бұрын
SQUEAK I suppose it's because her gifts aren't immediately shocking or noteworthy like the others (Mitch has a very high voice, Avi a very low voice, Scott has a lot of soul, Kevin is amazing at a million things). With all that going on, I suppose it would be easy to overlook her talents, but she's so important and I just feel so bad for her being so ignored. She has an amazing range, incredible belting power, vocal stamina and she's super emotive when she sings. I think of her like a vocal chameleon: her voice can blend to anyone else's or can mimic anyone else's style. I just hope someday people can see her talent... :(

Dear Pentatonix, PTXofficial scotthoying Mitch Grassi I have never heard a better sounding group ever in my entire life. You guys are truly amazing and naturally talented, impossible to be broken or changed. Your bond within the group is very strong as obvious and when voices collide and blend, it is like hearing a sweet sounding melody, clearing your thoughts and problems, making everything better. Every single one of you have a different talent that is unique and fascinating, and you are all my favorites. Since the first time I have listened to PTX, I have never stopped listening to any of your songs, and with that, you have all become my idols... I am currently in an acapella group and hearing your sweet and beautiful voices, makes me feel stronger and feel powerful, and I am sure it does to everyone. I am VERY excited to see you all in Tampa, which will be m first time there, or hearing you live in fact. Please stay strong and do not listen to all the haters that exist in this world. Believe in yourself and continue being "Fabulous" like Beyoncé. Ignore all the stupid haters who think they can do better, when in fact they can't even sing, or who believe that only greatness can exist within themselves and not others, but you have proven them wrong, because if you believe, you can do it. To all the people who are reading this, don't just think about PTX, but think about yourself, and why there music in life or why you dong something, because that may affect your whole entire life. PTX is truly amazing and if you do not even bother or want to read this, please move on and continue being that person, but i accept the fact that not everyone has to like PTX, but that doesn't mean that hateful comments don't hurt. Music is life to me. Without music I do not know if I would still be here today, writing to you, hoping that one day, you will see me, you will read this, and you will think of me, because i love you all so much. Music to me, is like the remedy of life, its like something so powerful and beautiful that can change someone and make everything better. When I feel down or upset, I sing or listen to music. I have been singing since I was 4 years old, and I have never stopped since. Your music is an inspiration to me and if you ever doubt or think that your are not talented, just remember that there are millions of fans and people loving you and listening to your music everyday, (Like me :)) and never give up, Because you are all beautiful and FLAWLESS

I watched this for the first time long after Avi had already left. I knew the whole story. I saw it coming, and still...when Avi started singing his solo I broke down, and again at the break in Kevin's voice at the end. PTX sings from the heart. When they sing it's real. It's not a recital. You throw your whole self into the song and get lost in the music. That's what it means to sing with soul.

Incredibly tender, mournful cover. So beautiful. Thank you, PTX as always! And Avi and Kevin strike again! Those boys are just over the moon! I hear so much love for one or the other but a lot for Avi especially. And while I don't really know who would win a contest if you could construct such a thing, because both of them are just insanely hax *rofl*, Kevin's got so many talents that are understated and unseen where Avi's talents are right there (if you've heard him really sing, not just bass, you'll know he's got a vocal range from low to high that's INSANE!). Plus Avi's a very badass looking guy! (think he looked the most badass in that vid where they were costumed up, "Love Again".. very awesome!) Anyway, and these two guys work together seamlessly, always helping each other with their prospective vocal/beat parts in order to help PTX's sound come out sounding like a full band somehow. It's incredible! And it's mostly because of those 2 guys. Many many Kudos!!

This song actually reminds me of an anime/cartoon/show or anything with a scene that happens around each time their girlfriend/boyfriend or just somebody they love just died/got shot/or got into an accident and the protagonist witnessed it. And as their very last moments the protagonist would say "PLEASE. Say something!! Don't give up on me please!" Like it hurts me. Ugh. Now i'm crying great.

I believe that God created everyone and everything for a specific purpose and that is how I feel about this group of talented and amazing singers and musicians. You each were born to sing, you were born for Pentatonix and I am so happy that you each other and you found your place in this world. I love how fresh and creative you guys are with each cover you sing, and it's sad to say, but when I hear a new song from one of my favorite singers, I instantly search to see if there is a Pentatonix version. Another sad but true fact is.... I would gladly buy your version over the original artist The world is such a better place because the five you and I pray much success over each of you. You guys rock!
@Radwar9910 жыл бұрын
Say this to people who's led a miserable life, being constantly raped, tortured and whatnot, I would think they'd have some pretty explicit words to say to him and justifiably so.
@joellytle92810 жыл бұрын
Radwar99 What the hell does that even mean, dude? Are you so ready to condemn that which is good because there is bad in the world? The fact that there ARE people in the world who suffer is what makes this song so powerful! The way these 5 kids sing this song should be a reminder to all of us that we should cherish that which is beautiful even amidst the darkness. You give up on the ideal because it is unattainable, I cling to it because the very effort of reaching for it makes me a better person.

Kristen Martin She said "I believe that God created everyone and everything for a specific purpose". A lot of people only know misery, like those who are constantly raped and tortured for example, so that's their purpose?

Raul Pinto Let me clarify my comment, when we are born there is purpose for our a life, Some are fortunate enough to find it and some are not. I would never tell a person who was a victim of a violent crime, that this is what they were created for! It's obvious that you view life through a miserable pair of eyes, or maybe that's your purpose! L2L or L2S (Learn 2 Laugh or Learn 2 Smile).

My dear Lady Prixxy... I feel you sister. Nobody should experience domestic violence nor homelessness.. I've been there too.. In a foreign country, with no support of friends nor family and with... 1yo child... How sick this world seems to be sometimes. But believe me little sister, there's a quiet place where we all belong and one day all our earthy struggles will end up. I just hope that till now you found a place to provide you basic care (roof for night, shower, somebody to rely on). It's very important that you won't stay in this shitty situation all alone! Love from France&Poland to USA 💞

This is the most Amazing group of singers out there. Love their voices and their harmony. Wow. They can sing anything.
