I love what you said about the consequences of the MC in Red Rising being seeing in the new trilogy. I haven't read the books yet but I personally love when I see that in books/film/TV. It makes the story very relatable.

You're so right about Iron Gold. Pierce does such a good job with the sequel series by exploring consequences of actions in the first trilogy. I also loved Tyranny of Faith. I loved Justice of Kings and I think I liked Tyranny more. Also I love Sun Eater and it definitely has Dune vibes and each book gets better.

I'm definitely going to have to give Justice of Kings a try with all the great things you say about it. I actually just finished Ninth House today. I liked it, but I wasn't in love with it, like I was hoping to be with the Grishaverse, but it really was my first dark academia style book and that may just not be for me. Bummer that Hell Bent kind of fell flat for you. I'm going to read some lighter, fluffier stuff before I try and tackle that. Just for a palette cleanser. I got through 5 books in January. 2 physical, 2 audio, and 1 graphic novel (shout out to Leigh Bardugo with Demon in the Woods!) My stand out for the month was Belladonna. Absolutely loved it and can't wait for Foxglove 💖 runner up was Fairytale by Stephen King. I really enjoyed it, even before we got to the fairytale-esque stuff. He built a good relationship with the main character and the old man he ends up befriending. Definitely recommend both. Great video and can't wait to see what February has in store for you.

I'm not really into Scifi but the way you talk about Iron Gold make me want to try reading Red Rising so I'll add it to the TBR. As for Hell Bent. I really enjoyed it! My only gripes were that I can pick out specific scenes that I LOVE in Ninth House, I didn't get that in Hell Bent. I also spent all this time wanting more of a certain character and although this book is supposed to be about getting them back they still aren't really in it much. Overall I enjoyed Alex's personality way more in this book than I did in Ninth House. As a positive is that Leigh Bardugo really impressed me with the way she handled Turner's backstory.

I finally went to the Book Cellar bookstore. Unfortunately nothing was jumping out at me, but I did buy Abandon by Blake Crouch. We ate across the street at Jerry’s and it was delicious. I’m saving The Justice of Kings and The Tyrannny of Faith for march.

Glad to hear you liked The Last Watch! I bought the first 2 books, going to start them shortly. I loved Velocity Weapon. I read that trilogy b/c of you, so thanks. I enjoyed Hell Bent but agree it wasn't as good as Ninth House. I felt like some things were too easy. I am looking forward to the 3rd book. I liked getting to know the other characters better. It will be interesting to see how everything wraps up. I definitely want to read a Justice of Kings. Sounds great!

My best book of January was Crucible of Gold by Naomi Novik (Temeraire #7). It was my favourite in the series so far and I really want to finish the series this year! Pretty much all the other books I read were 3*, so not horrible but not noteworthy either. 😕

I picked up Pines based on your last video and it was really good. I thought it lagged a bit in the middle with a long chase sequence but overall 4 stars. You got me hooked on Blake Crouch! I read Dark Matter, Recursion, Upgrade all last year :)

It was only suppose to be a limited series which is why all 3 books are covered in one season. It had a second season cause the first was so successful. I hope me finishing the show does not ruin the books for me .

I have been so torn with whether or not to try Ninth House because I have heard so many mixed reviews on it but I hate book 2 wasn’t what you was hoping it would be. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Empire of Silence, I have had my eye on that one!

I highly recommend reading Ninth House! It’s such a great urban fantasy. Pretty bummed that Hell Bent didn’t live up to it, at least for me 😭 Empire of Silence keeps slipping down my current reads lol. I’m really hoping I can finish it this month! 🤞🏽

I read 9 books in January. My favorite read was The Final Empire. This was a reread for me. Nothing was five stars but it was a solid month. My least favorite book of January was The Love Hypothesis. I don't get the hype for that book. I preordered The Tyranny of Faith and am looking forward to reading that this year.
