I considered it a victory when I was able to quickly identify that I'm buying the right ammo for my gun.

With a scope the sks is such an op starting gun, the moment I got the scope dropped by a bandit the game got so much easier. I could get the clear sky helmet early because I used it to take potshots at the Military while skedaddling through the brushes and reeds to hide over and over again. With 3 to 5 shots you even can down a military master.

It should be noted for armor... The reason to replace the individual parts is to get the percentage high enough to use the sewing kits. This is good if you find some heavily damaged armor you want.

indeed, Replace the parts that are easier to find ( textiles fabric, pvc,), and use a Advanced or Heavy Sewing kit, so they will repair the parts too, and those have a bonus to parts, so you pretty much can get it to 100%. it took me some 20 kills, some stashes and a sum of RU to get a Merc ACE suit, totally worth it

Thank you for the video, much appreciated. I know this video was put out in June so it's slightly outdated, however you can now drag and drop gun parts in to guns straight from the inventory. No need for using the workbench.

IMO it's best practice to frequently maintain your armor and weapons. Higher condition requirement repair tools/solvents are cheaper and more abundant as loot than those which let you salvage gear in poor condition. Keeping your equipment in good shape not only has it at peak effectiveness, but saves money on repairs, healing and ammo in the long run. Edit: I also recommend keeping a couple of those cloth bandit facemasks on hand. They give a +6 or so bonus when cleaning guns, and they drop *all* the time.

For minute 26 I might have an explanation on why is different repairing an armour and a weapon: for a weapon you repair a clearly defined component, system etc. For armour when using sewing kit you can sew armour plates, fabric for arms, inner side of the clothing etc. So if you sew/glue an armour you are doing it to every tear, not only on specific, well defined part

I've repaired armour to 100% but some of the parts remain at lower condition. Do I need to "over-repair" the armour to get the included parts to full condition? Oh wait that's not possible. So how then? Get the armour damaged then repair it again?

With the slotting in and out parts for weapons. Pretty sure you can use field strip to swap damaged parts out with better ones. You don’t need a workshop or the repair kit to just swap parts.

Great video man. Thx. One thing regarding guns: You can simply drag the parts on the gun to replace them without a kit (except the barrel, which you need to do it on the workbench). This lowers the weapon overall condition a bit tho when you do it on the run without kits (except in the workbench) Regards

Adding on to this, the gun frame has to be above a certain condition % (I'm not sure the exact value) in order for this to work. But yeah you can totally replace all the parts, besides the barrel, when you are out and about.

Adding more info after I played more: You can also mantain Gun parts (above certain % condition) with the specific cleaning kit by right click in the weapon and choose "Mantain parts". A list of possible parts to be cleaned will display and you can choose one to be repaired at 1 use cost of the Cleaning kit.

As well just basic economy advise for beginners, the higher is minimum repair value on the tool the cheaper the tool. So always use the tool, solvent, glue... whatever with highest minimum percentage e.g. you if you have armour with 75% durability, you can use 70% glue all the way until it is 100%, but depending on economy you may have to pay 6000 for each glue tube, instead it is better to use 70% tube to get it to 80%, 80% tube to get it to 90% (which is maybe 3000) and 90% tube to fix it to 100% (which is 1500). If people are playing survivalist + hard they won't have 80k for very long time.

an idea for a video could be health related. What items to use, etc. One of the most daunting things to my friends I’ve introduced is health and food. For example: most players don’t know you can double up on them and heal up without visiting a doctor or resting. Even a playthrough I’d watch, though I know those tend to die off on KZbin a bit.

If you want to check some pro tips about cost/repair to save a lot of money in the long run, read this: you always have to think about the amount of money you are spending on repair. to find the cheapest way, most effective money/percentage wise. like, in the case of melee weapons and the scissor tool (dismantling tool) its most cost effective to just use the sharpening stone raw without any other auxiliary item, as you can buy it pretty cheap like, 2,5k RU 20% each use and have 4 uses. cheaper than repairing directly thru the technician. besides that, its more useful to use other material to guns wich dont have such a cheap alternative for repair as knifes. you will usually find it on bodies too, not that rare. Always have a stock of cloth sheet (synthetics) as its the cheapest way to boost your repair/cost ratio. its abundant while you dismantle armor of people you kill. it gives 2% more to almost any repair in the game and its basically free. dont need to have any contidion so its a good use for those 0% ones. you could use other textiles, but all the others have other uses like making better backpacks, this one doesnt. Never use two cleaning products at the same rapair, its more effective if you use other auxiliary itens instead (this works for armor and guns). let me make an example: if youre using a spray for 15% and you use a cleaning oil together, you will get 25% condition repair. but if you use the spray with cloth sheet, or even a steel sponge, first then use the cleaning oil with another cloth sheet or steel sponge, you could get 25%+4% (or 25%+14% if using sponges). The most cost effective itens for repairing guns are, the silver cleaning oil and the cleaning solvent. if you just want to boost your overall weapon durability. for clothes, its best to keep them over 90% as it tends to worsen the stats of the armor as it goes lower. its pretty cheap to buy those 90%+ repair glues. using the cloth sheet method is advised. guns and armor works diferently, as in guns you have parts and gun condition separetedly. in armor you only have the overall condition, as you repair the armor all pieces are repaired together. if your weapon has too many low condition parts it will jam often. but definetly dont let your barrel get bad as it will lower your damage output. look for high tier guns with good barrel so you can find or repair the other parts without having the needed repair kit thru field repair mechanic, as most advanced guns will need advanced tool kit, wich is late game. this way you can use a good 7.64x54 sniper rifle early and steamroll your progression.

Neat guide, i wasn't actually aware you could repair components below 10%/clean below 20%(?) with the relevant toolkit & always assumed parts below 10% were essentially junk & weapons below 20% durability required a technician to clean,as the lowest cleaning kit requires base 20%, nice to know in case of emergency/weapon i really want to use but have no spare parts somehow in my stash hoard. A good rule of thumb when hunting for parts is to check every weapon/armor piece you come across & always salvage 60% or higher weapon parts & 50% or higher armour parts to stockpile for future gear repairs. I like to have around 10~ steel wool & 20 duct tape as cheap supporting materials when repairing guns/armour in the field whilst industrial grease/kerosene can be stockpiled in your stash to support internal component repairs. When repairing armour, as mentioned you need to replace the internals to begin with, always start with cheap/common mats such as durable textiles, cloth sheets or the like which you get from disassembling items like boots & underwear with a grooming kit/swiss knife (never waste multitool charges on anything but weapons) you only need to get armour to 65% durability before you can start using repair kits to get all the way to 100%, potentially saving rare armour components for better gear/other equipment in the future

I cant understand that. I mean I guess these mod packs were made with this in mind. If you check on the official GAMMA discord they might be able to advise how to turn on buying weapons etc so you don't have to repair everything. There is also another mod pack called EFP you could try that as you can buy weapons and armour in that rather than craft it. It plays differently though, I have a few videos of me playing it on the channel.

well here i am a week later fully based up in jupiter with my tier 3 equipment and despite having watched this video early on i still made this game 10x harder progression wise. i really don't mix well with crafting systems for some reason.. but the feeling of progression in this game is top tier.. your right the progression is too big a selling point to nix.. though i think any game that has people watching lengthy youtube videos in droves is usually a sign that something was mishandled and im sure there are a one or two more systems im clueless about.. the weapon maintenance, especially how to repair a barrel while in a gun is not something i learned till just now. so if the barrel on a gun i found was bad... i just left it there haha. maybe the disjointedness is just a consequence of slapping together hundreds of mods though. with stalker 2 on the horizon and apparently it being 6x bigger than all the previous games combined.. i hope they were inspired heavily by gamma/anomaly and smooth out all the rough edges for an ideal experience. imagine taking an SKS and a usp into brain scorcher cause u don't think u can repair the other guns u found. @@Bandanner

any part obove 60 should be kept, you can "maintain" it with those ">10%" kits to full... if you have a parte you can remove and only need 25% use file/rod to clean it.

Unless you find them randomly on a box, you either get lucky finding them on an engineer trader guy OR you keep breaking down armour/helmets until you find enough. I checked and I have 21 so they can't be too rare BUT most are badly damaged suggesting I got them out of other armour

This has to be the most confusing system I've experienced. You can't seem to remove barrels from guns, turns out, I THINK, you need the repair kit for that type of weapon. Yet the details system doesn't say "needs these items for repairing" or whatever, it just says "compatible with". Turns out you NEED them, not just "compatible". You can't just use a file on an item. Or maybe you can, it just makes no sense. Everything seems to be "cannot be used on items under 60%", yet almost everything you get is below 60%. So how do you fix THOSE? It doesn't explain.

If you do enough tool quests for one of the techs/engineers they may start to stock it. Its likely easier to craft it yourself, which you can do once you have an advanced toolkit.

Glad I could help! The game is complex, I mention in my getting started guide 2023 edition about starts and how the game has changed. I have always played on Medium difficulty and highest survival difficulty and that's plenty hard till the very end. Depends on your experience level BUT as I note and show how in that video, you can just change the difficulty any time though it might take a few days for some stuff to change in the game world.

As I undersood, you cannot change the parts of armor (cloth etc.) just by dragging it on the armor like with guns? I managed to revive a shotty by sorting and collecting parts and dragging them (barrel was fine) but it doesn't work like that with armor =(

No but equally armour as you slot in new bits and hit repair it raises the quality of the other "parts" so I guess this was their way of balancing it out. I suppose also its easier to imagine taking a gun apart in the field rather than taking armour apart and sewing it back up? Just spit balling really :)

This is probably a silly question but why not just use the handgun repair kit to replace all the parts? Seems like it would be less time consuming and more cost effective just to replace the parts with the kit instead of restoring the condition of gutted parts and slapping them into the weapon. Sorry i'm new to stalker/gamma it's really difficult game but fun.

It's not a silly question. Firstly I guess this was a demonstration video to show how to fix the weapon in various ways :P But the other thing is "replacing" the parts uses the uses of the kit (they only have 5 total) and once you use them all it vanishes. So perhaps not for the pistol kit, but some other kits they are harder to come across/craft it's not worth using them up when you could repair the components instead. You can obviously repair items as you see fit but the other options are there for a reason. :)

Yeah that's the only way to repair it. This guide is old its actually 60% or above to repair now with the exception if you can find the VERY expensive part repair kit that can repair parts that are outside of the weapons that are 10% or above. But yes because its already in the gun you will need to replace it with one 60% or better.

i went to a mechanic and pressed the "my equipment needs tweaking" option then clicked on my sunrise stalker suit that is on 86% durability, unlike my weapons where i can pay the mechanic to fix them the suit would just say repair selected item when i hover over the repair button, clicking on it does nothing and im very unsure of whats going on, i have 50k roubles so im sure its not a money thing but im stuck.

You need an artefact melter, you can get one from an ecologist in yantar, thats the only way I know to repair them. You also need multiple of the same type to do it. I just collect them in a stash ;)

Im a bit confused. when repairing why does the stats of the gun stay low? like i have a SKS and have all the part changed all above 90% but it says dmg 39 (-150)?

Weapon damage never changes 39 is the damage of that weapon the -150 is compared to your current weapon. Numbers in brackets are comparison. The only stats that drop due to damage are armour stats hence you can press ctrl over those to view the original stats. It's likely comparing it to a shot gun with 189 damage. 189-39=150

ok so in summary: all parts of the gun can be repaired unless they are at 0. except for the barrel. Under 60 percent a barrel can not fixed? For a barrel you need to find one or buy one by the mechanic? all other parts of a gun i can just replace without workshop and repair with a kit (everything above 1 percent)?

Pretty much, you can do a barrel below 60% but you need an expensive part repair kit. But I forget that works on the parts that are IN a gun already. But you got the important stuff. Enjoy the continued confusion ;)

I explain about replacing armour parts/components in the workbench at the start of the final chapter in the video, this is what you would have to do in that situation. You can't buy Weapons or Armour in GAMMA you can only repair the damaged ones you find. There are mods you can likely enabled/disable to change this behaviour but I am not sure which, you should check on the official discord as someone has probably asked about that before.

You either need to "replace" the part while its inside the gun with the relevant weapon repair kit (specified on the weapon details) As far as I know If its outside of the weapon the options are limited, I am told there is a "universal parts repair kit" that engineers can have when you level them up enough. But they cost like 50000. I have never found one and its not craftable. Unless you can put it in a gun and replace the part with the as mentioned repair kit ideally you need gun parts over 60% otherwise they are fairly useless loose.

How is your stash so full mine wont go above 70 pounds

It's an old version of the mod pack, now you need to enable a mod called something like unlimited stash weight under gamma fixes in MO2 HOWEVER people have reported issues enabling this mid playthrough such as things vanishing so you do it at your own risk.

so, i'm confused. i can repair a shotgun with a 12 gauge repair kit, all the way to 100%. but the condition of the 'parts' within the gun are still unchanged? so what's the difference between overall condition and condition of the parts inside the gun? you'd think they should be related to eachother..

So in the case of armour it is. For guns they consider each individual component needing to be fully repaired for the weapon to work. So you have to repair or replace them all. I demonstrate how to repair a pistol in the repair video.

This is what I have been pondering doing but I need to establish if its changed from the version my game was at and saved on. Because obviously starting over will mean playing a while before I have enough items to show the mechanism. I think you can just upgrade and it upgrades the save but I fear weird issues cropping up.

@@Bandanner Totally get it. I actually just redownloaded the 7z to basically make an entire separate vanilla folder. The gamma mod is really well done, but some of it is like, too much. And its not easy figuring out exactly what to turn off. Like the first aid and then post heals... its too much man. Especially since (and I could be wrong about this) I havent found any other way to regen health. I dont know how anyone could possibly make enough money early game to afford just the meds you need. That combined with the fact that the traders dont buy, basically anything... Im all about a tough experience, but within reason. I cant imagine a trader in this "world" is going to turn down a weapon that needs a little oil and a new trigger.

I always try and respond to sensible questions and comments, I am not so big to get so many I can't answer most. It's deliberately complex in every way, that's one of the charms of GAMMA certainly not for the faint of heart. I mean I was lucky to have friends already playing who could explain some stuff to me.

@@Bandanner so, I made a few tweaks that have, so far, made the experience much more enjoyable for me. I left all the mods on, playing medium/scavenger. First, since not everyone is going to be wandering the wastes in tatters with a barely functional weapon, I tweaked the min/max condition of weapons and clothes based on the stalker level. Rookie 10/20, trainee 15/25, then 20/30 etc. except for the last 2, expert and legendary I increased the min by 10. Realistically, more experienced dudes are going to have better gear. I also slight decreased weapon degradation because, come on, as long as you have some oil you can carry a gun around outside for ages before it’s completely F*****. Also made buying from the traders slightly less expensive and slightly increased meds/repair kit loot table. In a couple hours around Cordon I’ve found 1 emergency armor kit and 1 handgun kit, so it’s not too crazy or game breaking easy or anything. I also didn’t realize you regen health by a fire, huge.

The only reason to give them tool kits really is to increase their inventory if you don't need them to stock more and better stuff then you don't need to give them tool kits. Though i tend to end up with spares.

I’m not sure if this has been changed in a GAMMA update, but I cannot fix gun parts that are very low %. I double click on the relevant weapon repair kit (the big one), and it opens the window but no parts are shown when I have ones in my inventory. I can only repair parts above 60% with the ramrod, file, etc. I’ve searched everywhere, I cannot repair low % items no matter what, they’re useless.

Off the top of my head you need to right click the part and select replace with the specific tool kit in your inventory and it uses one of the charges. This works if the part is installed in a gun by right clicking on the gun. It should also work on loose parts.

Is it too badly damaged? It has to be a certain % for each type of repair kit to work on it, see the last section of the video for how you can replace armour "parts" like you can gun parts.

Any of the little repair items should have been able to do it at the relevant % I am not sure what's wrong, you could try asking for help on the official discord. I did fully repair some armour towards the end of my latest playthrough video, check that out too for how I did it all.

Assuming you can't find any standard items on vendors (sounds like you can't). You need to craft the relevant armour kit to be able to slot in new parts or replace the broken ones inside the armour.

Replace the internal parts like on the pistol to raise it to a level you can then repair. You will need the relevant armour kit.

You would need the required armour repair kit for that specific armour, so you can slot in replacement components. Allowing you to bring it up to a high enough level to use other tools easily. Those are kits you can build within the workshop, check the items details tab for which one you need. You might have a small chance of finding them in a stash but I am not sure?

No settings/mods have been installed to alter the size of any text. This particular video is months old, check my more recent ones, if its still a different size then I am unsure it could be based on screen resolution (mine is 2560x1144). Otherwise I suggest asking on the official discord if anyone can advise of a way to increase it.

This was a recent change to the mod to encourage people to build their own bases (I have not tried this). As per their official discord: "If you don't like this change or maybe you're in the middle of a run and can't afford/don't want to use straight away the hideout feature, you can enable this mod under G.A.M.M.A. Fixes called "Unlimited Stashes Weight"."

Always buy military shovel and the regular shovel. Now it give 2 metal 2 wood. The ball pin something DONT DESTROY IT you will need to make more mutitool if you over use it. For if your lucky you get a guitar it give you 4 but keep 1 or 2 if there a mission for it

This mod is mad confusing. I repaired my shotgun i picked up to full and it still jams every shot. then i field stripped it to repair all the parts that was danaged and cant do that...so i wasted money...Then if you change keybinds the game tweaks out and conflicts with other ones so you try to hit reset on the settings to restore it back and it does nothing lmao..like damn im just trynna play the game mane...im going to watch this full video now hopefully it sheds light to how this game works because its a whole headache...i cant figure out how to heal my limbs either. so when i run im hurt still even after using 5 first aid kits and and 2 army ones. very confusing lol

Regarding healing if you check my starter guide I discuss the healing items near the start a little when picking gear. But in essence you need to both apply first aid and a permanent heal. That covers either all limbs or just the limbs in question. I do not think they have changed that though its been a while since I played and they have added more mods.

@@sgtskysyndrome So the basic tools is the workbench, it's part of that. You have a chance to find it in stashes (green ones guarantee a tool kit). The technician can only be upgraded by feeding them basic tools as far as I know. I have not yet actually tried to level one up. But I do not think they ever sell the tool kits, just the repair kits.

The mechanic will repair my pistol to a 100% for 13k. Why would i spend over 20k on tools? Same with rifles, i did some missions, earned over 40k, i go to mechanic and repair that nice AK74-M for 23k. The only use for these tools i see is maintenance. The armor though is a different story, it's very difficult and time consuming to find a good armor and even more difficult to repair it. I literally spent over 12 hours trying to find a gas mask... So here i am running around in leather jacket but armed with remington 870 and an AK74-M... Weird experience.

Mechanic only "cleans" your weapon, he dont fix broken parts. As i know best way is to buy repair kit, repair broken parts with weapon maintain option, and then clean gun in mechanic. Ofc you can replace broken parts (it doesnt use kit stacks) but parts are quite expensive. Armor is imo way easier to maintain cause you replace parts to reach around 65, then you fix the rest with sewing kits etc.

Ha not even sure what the fov setting was back then when I made that video. I run at 85 currently the game's default is 80. Any higher than 85 makes things look very stretched out and I disliked how it looked at 80.
