Am I the only person who won't stop crying watching this meditation? I find this extremely helpful for my anxiety as I get recurring thoughts of the future that makes me hyperventilate, almost everything Noah said hit home for me and I just wished I could've listened to this when I was in a bigger mess. I think I will keep listening to this until I'm really better, I never seemed help because I thought the only person that can save myself is well, myself. But now I have this channel and I just feel like God is taking care of me.

I'm glad you have found the video and channel to be helpful. The crying can come for a few reasons. It can be because it feels like a relief or rest, and it can be because it feels like someone is really seeing you and talking to you rather than to the thoughts and stories in your mind.

As someone who has managed to significantly reduce my anxiety, I can attest to the power of mindfulness. It has really helped me take notice of my thoughts, and learn to let them go without attaching any emotions to them. At a very basic level, anxiety is caused by obsessing over the past and worrying about the future; mindfulness helps because it keep us locked in the present. Based on personal experience, I also recommend practicing gratitude and cold showers to maximize your ability to control anxiety. Thanks for posting!

I really liked how he explained that our minds create imaginary problems. This is huge for me specifically at work.My mind is always telling me I am going to get fired,I am afraid of making any sort of mistake on my paperwork.Whenever I do make a mistake my mind automatically goes to "oh great here comes the pink slip" and I become really anxious. However this video really helps with differentiating what is real and what is not.

I am dealing with this right now. I made a small mistake at work and sold something to someone who wasn't fully qualified. I ended up leaving work for the night as it was the end of my shift, and I was so scared that I called out of work the next day (which happens to be the friday before this comment is posted, which was also my 26th birthday lol). I was off this weekend as well and go back to work tomorrow. I have had the most extreme anxiety I have ever had in my life this weekend, my heart is racing and my chest hurts and it just sucks and my family just don't know how to relate because they haven't had anxiety this badly before and don't understand. I know everything will probably be okay tomorrow, I just got thos job and I'm sure that I'm expected to make mistakes, but this is killing me

Wow I was almost having a full blown panic attack and I did not want to have to take an Ativan or benzo because I don't want to rely on a pill to feel relief. I meditate regularly and that helps me I was anxiety free for about a year but recently it came back stronger than ever. It's almost as if I am in a constant state of panic or worry. I fear having panic attacks which makes me have them. Sounds dumb but I can't help it. This video made me calm down from panic to calm. I thank you for this video it helped me a lot in this moment of "imagination crisis"

This... helped me a lot. I don't usually meditate, or watch/listen to things like this. However, tonight has been particularly hard on me anxiety wise. Heart beat racing, feeling numb and hypersensitive at the same time, badly wandering thoughts that keep going to dark places (which only makes it worse..), and the overwhelming fear and desperation for it to be over. So, I hear that these help from a friend that also struggles with anxiety. I put on my headphones and sat stiffly on the couch, eyes wide open because I was too afraid to close them. By the time you were done, I not only found myself leaning agaisnt the couch completely relaxed, but quite a few of the things I had mentioned decreased significantly. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for this. You will never truly know now much pain and suffering this helped me stop tonight. So, thank you. Thank you a million times.

I know you said on the video about it not really having value. Yet certain things you said actually left tears in my eyes. To feel even "ok" is amazing. To feel for a moment that nothing is broken or wrong with me. It was truly an incredible feeling for that fragment in time. I have just recently withdrawn from the medication I was given after a panic attack landed me in the hospital.I was given Paxil as well as Xanax.I tried to use the medication but I no longer felt alive.I have had depression and anxiety for so long.Recently I have been trying meditation, and I must say I couldn't stop watching you(even if I wasn't supposed to be the whole time).Your logic, your voice, and your words really helped.Thank you so much for being there at a very hard time for me!

I had anxiety since I was a child but I never recognised it. At 26, I understand it and a lot of unfortunate circumstances have made my anxiety full blown. I'm always worrying about things I can't begin to explain, it's so petty. Yet my heart is in a constant knot and I get that sinking feeling. I used to get pushed over a lot and I know stand up for myself but sometimes i feel maybe I'm blowing everything out of proportion maybe I have started feeling everyone is out to get me, or against me. I get driving anxiety and out of body experiences. I have not been on meds and I won't get on one. But it's paralysing. I think of confrontations with certain people and it scares me. I'm giving this a shot I'm trying my best. Just wanted to share.

wow. I just stumbled upon this video in a random search for dealing with depression and watched your video about that which led me to this one and I can not really believe how at peace I truly feel at this moment. Allowing myself to have racing thoughts actually stopped them from racing...giving up control actually gave me more control...wow. I really hope that the next time I am in the middle of an anxiety attack I can remember this video and watch it again. It's crazy that I thought what I needed was help with depression, but now I know I was feeling depressed because I felt like my anxiety actually made me a bad person or somehow lacking. Feelings and anxious/depressive thoughts can be and are separate...just wow. How freeing. Thank you, honestly ..wow lol

No past bad experiences, just the anxiety of feeling out of control I guess (weird cuz ill be the one driving) has kept me a pedestrian. I'm hoping that your videos along with other techniques I have learned will get me through. Thanks again!
@JTHitt110 жыл бұрын
First I'd like to thank you. I have been watching your videos and reading A Guide to the present moment. I was desperate the only relief I could get from social anxiety, anxiety, and depression was guided meditations before finding your videos. A day or 2 later though, watching your videos and reading your book, I feel better. The tension is way less. You are doing the world a tremendous service. I'm getting it slowly, but I'm getting it. One other thing that helped was using paradoxical intention advocated by Victor Frankl. It is similar to one comment you made in one video of trying to not think about an orange, Paradoxical intention is trying to make the anxiety worse intentionally. I think it is simply a different way of generating acceptance rather than resistence which takes the energy out of the thoughts. Thought you might be interested in the technique. Thanks again.

Someone once made an interesting point that stuck with me about the fact that each of us is a speck on the universe. Look at all the millions of people worrying about what millions are thinking about them. I know some people are just naturally of a more sensitive nature and need to work at anxiety a bit more.

I have been battling anxiety, panic attacks, and some depression for the last couple months. It's put me in a bad place mentally. But this video has really helped calm me and make me feel like everything is okay. I feel good on the inside for the first time in what feels like a long time. Thank you.

Good job! I have been living with gad for twenty years and experience anxiety and panic. You gave the best reminder to not fight it which sometimes I still do. Sometimes it's good to be reminded to use common sense during a panic attack. Thanks for the reminder.

Rosa Alba That's what we all have in common. A fear we are broken, not like everybody. It seems so easy for others to socialize but not for us. The thing is it's hard for them too. Nobody knows what the hell they are doing and everybody is scared shitless. I am exactly like you, we all are. And none of us is the odd one out. In fact I think that the fact that we have anxiety and panic and whatnot means that we are alive, we are good hearted people and we are just trying our best. And none of us is crazy or unstable or anything. It's just depression and letting our thoughts control us like little dictators. Staying inside our heads for too long. We just need to get back to present moment, to the NOW. Feel warmth of a person hugging you, feel the smell of autumn leaves, touch of the wind on your cheek. That's happiness. And it's all you need to get there. I wish you the best. I too have a long way to go.

I was mind blowed about this. Idk why this video is making me look more at reality than my imagination and when my thoughts come I ask myself where the problem is in the room. I learned that I can't control my thoughts and that thoughts cause actions. Therefore, using the power of my thoughts I can control my actions, yet when my actions are bad that causes my anxiety.

My anxiety/ panic attacks turn me into a different person.. a person I hate who’s scared to drive a car, scared to go out with friends, who’s miserable and cries I like being strong and resilient And this video just snapped me back into reality and made me realize that I am okay and normal and I just need to ground myself sometimes.

Thank you Noah for creating and publishing these clips. I intend to listen to the one on how to meditate, or more correctly - how not to! You speak from you heart. You have such wisdom for such a young man.. To your critics I say you confuse them, is because they simply cannot understand, because they are not ready to. I am just over 60. If I had known at 20 what I am just learning now, I might not have this world of long-standing habitual self.harm. Heaps of blessings rain on you!!

Hey Noah, I was feeling really anxious at work this morning when I came across your meditation guide. After a minute with your video I was feeling more relaxed and a bit silly for being so anxious in the first place. I will be revisiting this video whenever the feeling starts to emerge and will keep your words in mind for when I am unable to watch. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your empathy and willingness to help people who struggle with anxiety.

Noah thank you so much for your videos. In late May my wife and I flew to maui with our 2 yrs old daughter. Before I got on the flight I had an anxiety attack....first one. Came to find out that I was so worried about my daughters safety that I had this episode. I actually thought I was afraid of flying, but with your videos I was able to understand that it's just thoughts and imagination. I now feel so much better, and anytime I need some help I put your video on and it brings me back. Again thank you for helping me get control back.

Thank you Noah for easing the suffering of so many of us. I work with special needs kids in high school. Could you make a video or 3 for them to follow? Maybe 10 minutes long that could just bring them back to the present moment and relieve anxiety. It's so needed. I wish I had learned what you teach at a young age.

This was so helpful to me. I find myself over worrying getting overly anxious about all that could go wrong like for an interview or before a speech. Its like i set myself up for something but i feel like i can pick up some valuable tips from this ..stopping and being with myself in a moment. Want to practice more but this has helped me big time. Thank u.
