It was sad watching this knowing that poor Louise never got to be restored. She was a true beauty n a lovely lady. Happy to know you were be able to save somethings to use in future homes. Ohhh, how I think about that huge medallion that I believe was in the dining room…. so sad. Not very many plaster craftsman could save it in this day of age. Like I said before…. there’s a reason why things happen the way they do. If it’s meant to be it would be n this pretty lady wasn’t meant to be. I’m sure after a year has passed you still shed some tears for her. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍

Oh my goodness I am so excited to follow along with y’all on this restoration! This would be a dream! I had a very simple and small farmhouse built around 1819 that I had fell in love with and had permission from the owner to go in it anytime I wanted. Well I finally got up the courage to have a talk with the owner to see if I could make him an offer on it and I went by to get one more look and my heart was broken because it was in the process of being torn down. They just bulldozed it down without trying to salvage anything! It turns out the owner sold the property to a developer and he immediately went and tore the house down to get the land ready for subdividing. Well that was a year ago and they still haven’t done anything with the property. I laid awake at night dreaming of how I would restore that house and would often visit it. It made me so sad when it was just gone within a couple of days. I guess I learned a lesson to take action sooner because you never know when if you snooze you lose. I don’t think the owner had even been considering selling it until the developer came along.

@@sophiachick3901 I still feel sad passing by the site that house was on and the developer still hasn’t done anything with the property! I was able to dig up several bunches of different varieties of daffodils that used to grow all around the house. I brought them home and planted them around my home so at least I have those for a reminder of that awesome place.

To anyone tackling an old house: beware of lead paint. Lead paint is evident by cracking paint that chips and peels. Houses built prior to 1978 most likely have some lead paint. Lead paint was banned in 1978. Chipping lead paint is dusty and can get into your lungs. If it's not chipping and cracking you can paint over it with a latex and thus it's not a issue.
