I cannot get enough of the Dutch door. What an enchanting decision that complements the Alice In Wonderland vibes of the place. It truly is like a Wonderland with Mid Century accents, like Walt Disney paid a visit and was inspired to produce a Disney version of the famous Lewis Carroll classic. What a feat. My restoration and other life goals are possible. That’s what these wildly near-impossible restoration journeys show me.

@@ManWhoLovesTheMary after 25 years we are able to fix up our house. For us it is maintenance of the Cathedral ceilings and the cement floor for aging in place. I went with pink walls inspired by Our Restoration Nations. It takes guts to go with pretty colors when everyone chooses grey!

My Mother was born August 16th 1926, she would have been 98 yrs old now. She passed March 8th of 2021 at age 94. This was all a reflection of her era and you respected it so well. We have the same style Italian tole ware light fixture over our 1969 mid-century modest kitchen table. I've always loved it so very much. So does Larry. When we first moved into the house and hung the chandelier a visiting friend came in to "love on" our new home and she said, "Oh, this fixture is the first thing I'd change!" We about died laughing. I only paid $2 for it at a garage sale - no kidding. Don't we all just love finding treasures!

It had a huge cabin 2 story for a main home. It's gone now sadly. People bought the place and tore it down. Everything. I couldn't believe they tore it down. It was very old.

Squatter hoarders can really be destructive to a property. The historic home beside me had the same damage and immense junk hoarding situation but now, after undergoing a complete reno, it’s beautiful and matches the other homes in our neighborhood. I’m so very glad you saw the need to restore this cottage and I’m even more appreciative to the young man who saw the value in saving the home next door!

Ok, I have to stop reading the dumbass comments. I’m about to have a stroke. As for me, one of the blessed few who walked into “The” cottage before the work began; this is utter perfection. The second you told us you had a cottage on the property, I knew something majestic was on the way. Take every wonderful adjective from everyone, and then multiply to the 10th power, and that puts it fairly close to how I feel about this little beauty. My mind has been blown. God bless you both for forging ahead when so many things pointed to “not this time guys” and you both said “just watch us”. Pam here…really respect your tenancity!! We have a Dutch colonial home and we used the square lattice as it felt more 1920’s rather than 70’s ?? Our deck builder suggested it and we love it. It is a very cheap switch out.
