The Original is great 2. In my opinion you should check it out as well. If you don't wanna do a reaction to it, Maybe in your free Time. That Album was one of the first ones I owned when I was young. I listened to it all the time.

No problem not knowing the original.... David Gilmour plays the solo on a steel laptop (slide?) guitar and slightly slower. Emppu is pretty true to Dave's style but adds his own brilliant touches.

This shows off the depth of talent in Nightwish. So much is made of the female singers, and Marko has always been there ready to do all the heavy lifting. I love this cover. It honors the original, but can stand by itself as it is put through the Nightwish filter.

Guitar solos are Emppu's improvisation. His own licks. I think the whole bands version is great balance between original and Nightwish sound.

You are so spot on, Marco is a remarkable singer. In fact, their new album Human (according to Tuomas) are written especially with the focus on the 3 remarkable singers in Nightwish - and they creates solos and harmonies, that are phenomenal.

Empu plays always ESP, he has 2 versions,. The ESP1 is his favorite and you will always see that guitar. Some songs he uses the ESP3, the white one. He is totally ajusted , made for Empu.

I highly suggest checking out Planet Hell from the same concert (End of an Era). Its one of the highest energy Nightwish songs in my opinion. And also very Marco heavier. And if you want to see even younger Nightwish, check out Wanderlust from the ‘From Wishes to Eternity’ concert. Nightwish so young, its even pre-Marco.

Thanks a lot for this reaction! Usually it is not possible to cover Pink Floyd. But here Nightwish managed to pick a great song from Pink Floyd and made an own version out of it. One of the very few cover of a Pink Floyd song where a band managed to create an own style but still respect the original.

I think you enjoy that song a lot more if you love the original version from Pink Floyd. Always been one of my favorite songs, and when I heard the Nightwish version of it, I was blown away. Absolutely killer. Not just Marco, but Emppu, Tuomas, Jukka... all of them.

Maybe you should check out the original. I think you should always do that. There are not often covers that are better or better different than the original. This is one of them.

David Gilmour played a smoking hot steel guitar solo in the '94 live performance I went to that possessed all the passion he can put into a song. It was amazing. But Gilmour's voice doesn't hold a candle to Marco's. Marco has such a powerful voice.

Serg.....Wow, a guitar teacher says " Pink Floyd is okay though, if you like them ". You know more than I about guitar playing.....I always thought David Gilmour was pretty special. Yes this was the Tarja Era sort of. I believe this was her last concert. About ten songs after this one the band fired her. The end of an era.

If you're digging Marko then you must listen to Stones off of his recent solo album, you'll get to see him whip out some cool acoustic guitar riffs. Then you need to watch some videos of his metal band Tarot. My two favorite vids are the live version of Tides, and the video for Pyre of Gods, for a guitar player Pyre of Gods is the shit, Marko's brother Zachary rips out a great solo.
