The history of cascading harmonics is interesting. Chet Atkins first thought up of the idea in the late 1950's, using a combination harmonics and fundamental notes, that were played over a chord. Then later, Lenny Breau picked up on this idea and added the effect of using the combination of hammer-on's and pull-offs with harmonics and fundamentals, to create a more cascading effect. Tommy then having been inspired by Lenny, took this to new heights with some of his extremely elaborate arrangements. To this day, I think Tommy's arrangements of "Michelle" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" are the best example of cascading harmonics ever recorded.
