This is definitely live. Morten is one of the few singers who sounds better live than in the studio versions. Love the 90s rock phase of a-ha, Morten was at the peak of his vocal abilities during this phase

Yes…it’s all entirely live…it was part of a 1991 NRK TV live recording session and documentary called East Of The Sun West Of The Moon, there are 7 other songs recorded live at this session…all are available to view on KZbin. You seem puzzled by the title Sycamore Leaves…but it just means the fallen leaves from the Sycamore Tree..”they cover the ground” and “out there by the roadside” there’s a body lying under them! It’s bluesy, it’s rocking, and it’s very dark…and very very thrilling to listen to. Everything about it is perfect from the drumbeats to the saxophone to the guitars to the climatic organ playing…and Morten’s amazingly emotive vocals…just all round perfection! ❤️

I'm pretty sure it's the live version from NRK's ​​studio. The album version does not include the saxophone. They had several musicians with them in the studio, and there was no audience present, so you won't hear any sounds from them. Whether they have produced anything afterwards I cannot say, but this particular concert is top notch, and a big favorite among the fans. The band was at the peak of their career, Morten still had full power in his voice and they were in a rocking period where they did some fantastic versions of their "old" songs, as well as creating new ones.

Live and relatively unfiltered. The studio they were in was great. Sycamore is a tree, so sycamore leaves…. The leaves from a Sycamore tree.

I agree with you Sax should be back, but I guess with the kind of songs that are being created now, it makes no sense.
