Now this is definitely one of the great '80s classics not just the song but this music video is just as iconic

I was *obsessed* with this song as a kid. Probably because of the cartoon aspect of the video 🤷🏾♂️

The band members of A-ha (Morten, Pal and Mags) come from Norway and all three are highly talented musicians, they can play multiple instruments and have incredibly beautiful songs in their catalog - there is hardly a bad a-ha song. A-ha is one of the best, most successful bands of all time. They released 11 studio albums (the last in 2022) and sold millions of records. Although only Take On Me is known in the US, the band are big stars in the rest of the world. During the "Rock in Rio" festival they even set a Guinness World Record for the largest concert (almost 200,000 tickets sold), while all other global stars together sold almost 60,000 tickets. The band also wrote the theme song for a James Bond film (The Living Daylights). Morten Harket (the singer) is one of the best vocalists in the music scene with his 5 octave vocal range (also one of the best looking lead singers, by the way). He holds a world record for the longest held note in a pop song (in the song "Summer Moved On"). The video for Take On Me has won countless awards (e.g. 6 MTV Music Awards and 2 other nominations) and is the most iconic and innovative music video of all time. Although Take On Me is one of the most famous songs in the world, it's not even the best a-ha song. I would highly recommend the following songs: "Stay On These Roads" "Hunting High And Low" "Summer Moved On" If you're more into rock/blues then the 'A-ha Live in NRK, 1991' performances of the songs "East Of The Sun West Of The Moon" "Sycamore Leaves" "Manhattan Skyline" "Crying I The Rain"

Classic song. You should check out the version he did on the Masked Singer UK of his own song competing as "viking" - it's on KZbin (kind of made people think it couldn't actually be him). Totally different vibe and such a beautiful pure voice.

As teenagers we didn't really understand the meaning of the words. We just loved the amazing video and jumped around. There is a MTV acoustic version recorded in 2017 that changes the whole perspective of the song. Give it a listen x

This was the 1st song that used electronic instruments that I liked. Before this song, I was a snob about it & wouldn’t admit they had any merit, lol. The fact that the video is fab didn’t hurt my opinion any either, lol.

Being a person who loves drawing even from a child, i thought this song was intresting...until i started looking at my own drwaings and imagining that same shit playing out...then after about 1 nightmare i realized; nah..this some spooky stuff. Now my drawings were dinosaurs, and lions, and all i could remember is wakeing up sweating and outta breath. Its sounds good though.
