There's only one thing better than experiencing a-ha's music, and that's seeing others discover the band. When the song and video were released in 1985, I knew the song from before (like the band, I'm Norwegian), but in a different version. When we got to see the video and hear the new version of the song we were blown away. It was unreal and every girl wanted to be the one in the video. A-ha is a fantastic band that has had many hits in Europe and South America. They released their eleventh album in 2022. That same year I saw them in concert, which was a wonderful experience. The follow-up to Take on me, "The sun always shines on TV" is epic, and although fans from all over the world recognize Take on me as a breakthrough song for a-ha, most fans would rank the song slightly lower on the greatest songs list from the band. I recommend that you react to more songs from the band, starting with the aforementioned sequel.

I consider Michael Jackson's "Thriller" to be a short film, not a "music video," so for me, this is hands down the greatest music video ever made. I remember seeing it in college when it was released and being so blown away by it. It was SOOOOO far ahead of its time in the special effects, the story telling, just everything.
@DirtCheapFU5 ай бұрын
It still is ahead of its time. You can replicate the love the art student put into the drawing and the transitioning.

It really was a short film. That was the point and what made it so special. The release was a genuine cultural moment.

Written by a-ha. Morten Harket is the singer. What range! 😃 Take On Me and Money 💰 for Nothing were 2 of the top music videos with animation in 1985. Suggested videos 📹: 1 a-ha performs Train 🚆 of Thought. 2 Dire Straits and Sting perform Money for Nothing live in Live Aid.

First release of the song, produced to death by Tony Mansfield, 1984. It flopped everywhere but in the bands home country, Norway. Release of the Alan Tarney version with the video, 1985. Tarney went back to the demo version, and i collaboration with the band he saved the song.

hi, thanks for reacting to take on me by A-HA. I’ve been an A-HA fan for the past 39 years now they have produced the soundtrack to my life from this song in 1985 till present. They have released 11 albums though are a one hit wonder in the united states. They were huge everywhere else including the UK where i come from. A-HA are 3 extremely talented musicians and songwriters from Oslo, Norway. Their music is constantly evolving so no two songs sound the same. You should take a listen to A-HA’s mtv unplugged version of take on me it will make you cry. It’s so different to this one. This video is iconic even today. It was made by a technique called Rotescopy where two talented artists hand draw frame by frame 8,000 drawings then live action is shot. This is still number one in my top music videos ever my second being thriller by Michael Jackson. A-HA are criminally underrated and unappreciated esp by a U.S. audience. One of my other fave A-HA songs comes much later in their career and it’s called Summer Moved On. it’s best heard live and holds the guinness world record for the longest note held by a singer during a live performance . The song can be found on youtube. Take care 😘🏴 ❤️🇳🇴❤️A-HA FOREVER❤️🇳🇴❤️
