Context for each song! Train Rush: You're at the back of a train and accidentally set off it's self destruct sequence. You're in a timed run to reach the front of the train to cancel the detonation, with ever more chaotic obstacles. The music speeds up as the timer gets lower. Your Contract Has Expired: A boogieman called "The Snatcher" takes your soul at the beginning of the chapter, and has you work for him doing various contracts. He then decides he doesn't need you around anymore and fights you as the chapter boss. This is the music that plays during the fight. Scootin Through Subcon Forest: There's a badge you can get that lets you ride a scooter. You also ride it for a mission. There are various "Scootin" songs which are that area's main theme with a drum beat in the background. Clocktowers Beneath The Sea: You can encounter these secret levels in a similar vein to the FLUDDless levels in Super Mario Sunshine. They take place in a blue/white environment with dimly illuminated clocktowers in the background. If you decide to do more tracks, I recommend giving these tracks a listen: Rush Hour, Battle of Award 42, Peace and Tranquility, Death Wish, The Badge Seller, The Windmill Peak, The Twilight Bell Peak Glad you enjoyed! This is one of my favourite games!

Certain songs in the game have unlockable remixes that can play in place of the original. For example, Train Rush (song 2 on this video) gets a full electro swing cover

'Trainwreck of Electro-Swing', aye. Hopefully she does a Part 2, because that's easily the best remixed track in the game (followed closely by the remix of 'Your Contract Has Expired').

A Hat in Time really delivers on its "cute as heck" tagline, it is so precious. Also, it's funny you mention that Your Contract Has Expired reminds you of Undertale, because there's a bit of it (11:01) that sounds quite similar to Heartache/ASGORE from Undertale's OST, though I believe that's just a coincidence. Anyway, if you ever want to listen to more of this game's soundtrack, I recommend the level themes The Big Parade, Picture Perfect, and Welcome to Mafia Town, as well as the boss tracks Rush Hour, The Battle of Award 42, and You Are All Bad Guys.

A Hat In Time is really just a happy, fun-time game to experience. It's goofy, it's immersive, and it's very charming. If I had to compare the feeling of playing A Hat In Time, I would say it's like getting a new friend that fills you with such nostalgia and warm vibes that it feels like you've known them for years. The only game that has done that for me in recent years was Hi-Fi Rush, which is another amazing game with amazing songs.

Never played the game myself, but after watching half a Let's Play I just had to look up the OST on Spotify. Several years later these tracks are still in my library: Mafia Boss' big Showdown Mafia Boss' big Showdown (Remix) Trainwreck of Electro Swing (Remix) The Fire Spirits The Windmill Peak Clocktowers Beneath the Sea Clocktowers Beneath the Sea (Remix) Alpine Skyline Time Rift Little Help from My Friends The End Not saying anything about the other tracks just in case I'd spoil a first impression, but I love the Ghibli-esque vibe of the first notes in Clocktowers. It's a very soft and serene sound. I can't remember what happens in the game when this plays (or even if I watched that far in the Let's Play), but I can absolutely picture it over a Ghibli seaside summer landscape.

The in-game context of the scenario you would listen to Train Rush is ( _checks script_ ) running to the front of the train while it's self-destructing to stop it from exploding. It changing tempo and key is intentional, as that's an in-game mission with a timer, and actually every time you picked up a timer to get additional time it would slow down, as the track's (hehe, train tracks) intent is to showcase you're running out of time.

I feel in love with Train Rush theme. It's soooo catchy I'd invite you VERY MUCH to look up for a gameplay of that level to see how fitting it is. The fact that here and there there are characters playing instruments it's so funny and you will appreciate the vibe even more seeing the tune actually starts going faster, cause the level is getting crazier It's a short level. Im sure a gaemplay video is not longer than 3 mins

(Behind *Read More* for slight spoilers) Train Rush is for a level where you traverse a train being rapidly deconstructed containing lava, acid, sawblades, lasers, cannons, etc., and a LITERAL TICKING TIME BOMB that you have to disarm at the front of the train... So the increased tempo and key changes make more sense in that regard.

We need a sequel to this one. Absolutely love this game's soundtrack and the game overall (as the pfp could probably tell you), some of the DLC tracks and official remixes you can unlock (Train Rush and Welcome to Mafia Town especially) have blown me away and its a shame they weren't included, even outside of the base OST bangers that didn't appear either like The Battle of Award 42

A Hat in Time is one of those stories that presents as cute and wholesome on the outside, but if you pay attention to what's happening, you go "oh my god, that's f*ed up!" It's meant to be a nostalgia trip to a child's innocent delight at the world for all it is, the good and the bad.

I love clocktowers beneath the sea, the music with the atmosphere of the stage is sooo unexplained and i prefer the original subcon forest unlike the scooting, is so much spooky and calming at the same time. Yay! A Hat in Time! Love this game and it has got such a stellar ost. Gotta admit, bit disappointed not to see “Battle of Award 42” on here, as it is personally my favourite song in all of gaming. But still, the selection here is also very good and shows off how dynamic and ambitious the Hat in Time ost is. If you do eventually make a sequel (which I would recommend, these tracks don’t even scratch the surface of the amount of musical genres A Hat in Time indulges in) I would highly recommend Battle of Award 42 and tracks from the DLC’s

Train Rush really isn't complete without a calm robotic voice reminding you you have x seconds until the train blows up. Edit: If you do a follow up video, might I heavily recommend The Battle of Award 42? It's another boss theme (like Your Contract has Expired) but is from the same chapter as Train Rush. I also just recommend playing the game. It's an amazing experience.
