I'm with you there, my friend. I have an 02' Aero wagon, an 03' Aero wagon, and an 08' dame wagon, and I get asked quite often if I will ever sell one... but you have three, they say, so you could sell one to me, right? They just don't understand. I'm looking for southern wagons from 02'-05' so I can have a completely rust free one that I can garage. I'm restoring my 02' and 03' while I daily my 08' and it's a lot of work! If I can avoid it, I'm never selling any of them!

These generation 9-5 wagons are such cool cars!! such a shame it's in a junkyard, it seems like a pretty complete car, I really believe it's worth trying find out if it's saveable, that car must hold alot of sentimental value to you as well!

It does! Sure seems like a mechanical failure if I had to guess, and the car clearly lived a very rough cosmetic life after we sold it

@@AutoAutopsy Awe, my parents 9-5 linear 2.2 wagon almost ended up in the hands of the scrappers, but a little bit of persuasion went a long way as it's now currently sat, off the road in a small garage in my hands. That car holds tremendous sentimental value to me and I wasn't going to let it go so easily, my parents were only considering junking it as the bodywork was rusting around the arches and the clutch was potentially starting to go. Really hope you can find out what happened to yours, if the engine isn't melted to shreds, maybe you could get it back on the road Might be a long stretch, though :(

I took the door off that 04 9-3 to get the bolts off the fender 😂. It was parked too close to the car next to it and I couldn’t get the door open enough. I did put the door nicely on the inside when I was done though. I got the hood, bumper, passenger fender, rearview mirror, fender liner, and some other small stuff

It's sad to see your own family Saab there, but at least you know it fulfilled its purpose. If not for donor cars, we also wouldn't be able to save other Saabs. Since my '99 9-3 cv 5spd got rear-ended last spring, it's been in the body shop and now at my mechanic's for some undetected damage to steering. In its 25th yr, I've not been able to enjoy it as much as I would've liked, but I'm doing whatever I can to keep it. At the same time, we fortuitously found and saved an '08 9-5 wgn 5spd here in town. This was a car that I'd driven by and wondered about for years, until one day when I saw the house was for sale and realized the car had been sitting. The family chose their Viggen, we saved their family wgn from going to the salvage yard, and it in turn saved me from going through the hassle of renting a car and pursuing insurance for reimbursement. If I had to choose btw my 9-3 or the 9-5, I have to go w/my CA-bought cv for sentimental value. The MA wgn has been enormously useful thus far, though, w/less worry about getting dented, dinged, or scratched - and just as much fun to drive.

Where I grew up there were two camps as far as cars were concerned. All the people from my hood drove G.M. The hicks that lived down the way swore by Ford's. One day I bought an old Ford Galaxy from a hick farmer that was in pretty hard shape. 50$.All my so-called buddies gave me a pretty hard time but they didn't see what I saw. As what I believe as a slight from the hicks they dumped all their unwanted cars and wrecks on our land. Over at least 100 cars . Me and my best friend went there and salvage all we needed to totally rebuild the car. When I showed the car to the hicks the car they were pissed. One man's junk.

Hey, Daryl, aren't you in MA also? I think we talked here awhile back about 9-5 wgns. Well, we got ourselves a 5-spd from a family in town who was moving and (understandably) chose their Viggen over the wgn. I think it pleased them to see the photos I sent of their family car getting a second life and staying local. We saved it from donor or salvage, and it has in turn saved me this past year (see my comment above here).🙂

@laurat1129 Yes, I am. South shore, not far from the Rhode Island Border. That's awesome, I'm glad you finally got a wagon with a 5spd cause I know you liked that laser red Aero that was an automatic. It's funny you said you send the family pictures because I keep in touch with all three of the people I bought my wagons off of, and when I'm done restoring them, I've promised to meet up and let them drive them again. That's very kind of you cause I find that these cars end up having a ton of sentimental value to their owners. It seemed like none of their previous owners ever wanted to sell them, but they had to, for whatever reason. That sounds like what happened to your cars previous owner, although I can also see why they'd pick the Viggen. That must have been one heck of a Sophie's choice, especially if it was a 3-door. Your 9-3 must be so nice this time of year with the top down on a warm day. This weekend is supposed to be warm, I hope you get a chance to go out and enjoy it. I'll be out driving around checking out the scenery. It's beautiful around here! Lots of fun, twisty back roads! Congratulations on the wagon, and I'm really glad it's a 5-speed. They're so fun to drive!

@@daryljoseph Unfortunately, the 9-3 cv is back in the shop for undetected damage due to being rear-ended back in March, now waiting for another insurance adjuster. Also, the cv sprung a leak which may be related. Its 25th b-day was Nov. 2023 (I think it came off the factory line that month in 1998?) So I didn't get to celebrate and enjoy it much at all this past year, but that's where the timing of the 9-5 wgn has been perfect.

Bought an (04) 95 arc a little over two years ago and It’s been the best investment I’ve ever made. It’s showing signs of age and I def need to get work on it done but I admit it’s not as easy as you’d wish. Prices and limited resources make it difficult but hopefully we’ll keep er alive to possibly raise my family in it.

I just didn’t end up connecting to CarPlay when I had filmed that! When it boots up after starting the car, there’s a Home Screen that goes away once I connect Bluetooth and bring up CarPlay

What do you mean exactly? Most all 9-5’s came with the 2.3! The arc and aero had the same power output and motor from pretty much 04 onward to my knowledge 👍🏼😁
