Halo 3 is one of the most important games of all time and this is my love letter to it. It's a game as important to me as any other, and I hope over the course of this hour, I was able to give it the justice it deserves.

I was 17 when this game came out. Last bit of my youth before graduating high school. Spent roughly 6000 hours in the game. Needless to say, my grades slipped in 11th and 12th grade.

Came out when I was in 7th grade. It was truly a magical time. It was an avengers level feeling before I knew I’d ever see the avengers on silver screen. It is truly a shame this isn’t a movie trilogy yet

@@MrDrBoi there’s no way they do. At the time, that trilogy of games was the highest possible watermark. The lore was expertly expanded with halo 2 which had us dying for halo 3. When it finally came, it changed the landscape even more. Surpassed expectations.

I was born in '04, but the many hours I spent playing Halo (and 3 in particular) have honestly shaped me as a person. I used to just do absolutely nothing in Forge and just messed around for hours- but I loved it! If I could go back for one day and play one last time with no adult responsibilities, I would. Halo has had a bigger impact on me than any piece of media ever. In second place is Pet Sounds, but Halo wins by a country mile. Tearing up at 4:30 in the morning. Thank you for this video! I agree with this video, I started playing halo in the late 2000s when I was really young, Watching halo legends, Getting all the halo megabloks, playing halo 3 and reach and being excited for halo 4. I miss that so much. Its why I mod halo 3 and add the stuff into I always wanted to see. I love the memories I had on this game with my brother. This video did give the justice halo deserved and I am glad people still can recognize it as such. Even if its an old game now, I want people to still play it, just because something is old doesn't mean you can't play it still. Now one thing I did want to mention about the social experience online, the reason why games nowadays neuter it, is actually not to stop toxicity as claimed, its done because of modern EOMM systems. For these EOMM systems to work, lobbies have to be disbanded so the system can constantly match you with higher skilled bots. That's right bots. That's another reason, Because alot modern games are actually implementing bots to replace players to easily curate how a player wins or loses. its happening with cod and is officially patented. but it just goes to show why I still enjoy playing halo 3 nowadays over modern games. because they have all these systems in place to control how the player plays and the player creativity is not rewarded at all, not to mention how in halo 3 when you did challenges they actually felt rewarding and not like a checklist. Thats why I still think people should enjoy older games, because they give alot despite the lower tech and still can be fun to play and with mod support like what halo has gotten, they can live forever!

Recently replayed halo 3. Gotta say held up to the test of time. The only campaign fps that have come out recently that compare are maybe the 2 doom games and a handful of other games

For sure. I tried to make as many videos of maps as i could to preserve the history. People put alot of work into those maps. Halotracks did a pretty good job on making a history video of there community. I was hoping someday that puzzle maps and trick jumping would do the same.

This was wonderfully made and my favourite retrospective on Halo 3 on KZbin. A really good job and a lot of the points you made on everything is exactly how I feel about it. My childhood was growing up with it when I was 16 at the time the game was released. It was the reason I got an Xbox 360. It was the most played game by me and my friends both single player and multiplayer. I poured countless hours on hours into this game. I miss it. Thank you for making this documentary.

It’s bigger than life to have experienced what we experienced, it’s timeless and has became its own thing. It’s alive at the moment because of the master-chief collection.. I was fresh out of grad school when this launched. I have to admit that, at that time, I found it a bit underwhelming, considering the unprecedented hype we had with Halo 2, a few years earlier. Call me crazy, but I just expected more than what was likely feasible at the time. In hindsight, having just finished it with my 6-year-old son, I have to say that it may just go down as my favorite of the series. It's not as technically advanced as Reach, but... damn, it was an epic finale to Chief's oeiginal story.

as cool as the video is Halo 3 MCC mathmaking is practically dog im sorry playing games and getting my entire team slaughtered and a kill difference of 3 and 20 on the highest of the opposite teams dont it sucks it sucks horribly

I will say that I feel like the MCC's matchmaking feels like it has gotten a lot worse since I released this video. I tried playing a few weeks ago and had a similar experience as you.
