In our backyard, a heartwarming tale unfolded when we discovered an abandoned baby nightingale, frightened and famished. Plucking a fig from our tree, we offered it to her tentatively. To our joy, she eagerly accepted the food, devouring more than we anticipated. Once her hunger was sated, her demeanor shifted, and she seemed to ignore further offerings, her chirps taking on a different tone.
Concerned for her safety and well-being, we decided to create a safe haven for our newfound feathered friend. We knew she would be protected here, under our watchful eyes. Learning about her feeding habits, we discovered similarities to caring for human babies. Despite filling her stomach with figs, she would soon grow hungry again, sometimes within the hour. By the end of her first day with us, she appeared relaxed and content. The next day, it was as if she anticipated our presence, waiting for us eagerly.
Gradually, she began to accept us as her caretakers, though we worried about her survival without her natural mother. While fresh figs were her initial sustenance, we introduced grapes, only to find they didn't satisfy her as well. It was boiled rice that provided the solidity she needed.
Over nearly three days, we bonded closely with our little charge, imagining the day we might witness her first flight. However, tragedy struck when, in our absence, a fifteen-year-old cousin insisted on taking her away. Despite our reservations, our mother acquiesced, trusting in his intentions.
As we reflected on those precious days with the baby nightingale, we hoped she would find happiness and safety wherever she landed.
