07:56. I want to commend you on leaving this in. It shows how annoying these pesky flies can be. Keeps it real.

That heatwave really looks bad! Oh boy, so hot! And I agree about making the most of your room and bed in the hostal. You sure are making a lot kilometers a day! Carcasonne is great town!

I was motivated to get through that section haha, I ended up doing the 514kms in 14 days to run away from the heat! And yes, Carcassonne is really interesting!

This is one of my favourite parts of France. A sunburned landscape, with some of the best wine and gastronomie in the world, but still very basic. The landscape smells of thyme, mint and rosemary. Here the landscape is steep in history and geology. The Gorges Tarn is a marvel to behold, but I guess nothing compares to The Grand Canyon. Could it be, you have reached an fatigue, after so many miles?

Absolutely! It’s such a unique section. The heatwave was definitely draining my energy, but it comes back soon enough!

The heat at 30-40 and the oddities of this section looked like a rough go. Felt for you out there. Another well done and entertaining episode.👏✨

It was a tough section that a lot of people ended up skipping through - I was glad I toughed it out and made it to the end!

More and more traditional camping are replace by "hotelerie de plein air" and they don't accept motorhome, caravan, and tent, because it's more expensive to hire a bungalow.
@LaurenRoerick

Ugh unfortunately true. Makes it expensive!

Great video after the bush attack on your legs and the heat. I was thinking you might yell for a medic for cut treatments on legs and maybe IV hydration treatment. I had my medic bag packed, lol . I enjoyed the video. I love the little lake's

Hahah I was absolutely melting 🫠 but happy to have gotten through it. A lot of people skipped this section due to heat exhaustion!

I totally agree, baguette et fromage can save life. And if you can get a vin rouge together with it, its a definite highlite!

The Wife and I have been following your hike. Hopefully I succeed in getting her to join me on the same. Do you speak French? Would English be enough to get by on trail? Thanks
@LaurenRoerick

Oooh exciting! I would definitely recommend learning a bit of French before you go, you don’t need to be fluent, but some knowledge makes the journey more enjoyable for sure :)

I’d destroy that sweaty cheese. The sandwich in the third minute reminds me of Twin Peaks. It’s that comical moment when Jerry Horne comes back from France and shares an orgasmic foodie experience with his brother, Benjamin Horne, and they are just bloody bonkers over how delicious it is. That’s some gorgeous trail chow.🥖😂

🤣 one thing the French have definitely gotten right is their bread and cheese! This was solid trail fuel:)

Hi Lauren, how many of the really hot days did you have on the trail? How much electrolyte did you go through? Thanks for your help.
@LaurenRoerick
@LaurenRoerick Жыл бұрын
This heatwave was a couple of weeks long, with August being the hottest month generally. It also coincides with the lowest elevation and some of the driest stretches. Electrolytes are often difficult to find outside of sports stores, so I would carry extra as often as I could. I would usually use 1/day and then take magnesium at night before bed.
