Its bot about range. Range refers to how high or low you can reach a pitch. Its not her range in particular thats amazing, its her vocal dynamics, the texture of her voice is so unique and how she is able to seamlessly control her vocal fry and smooth voice then instantly go belting. Its insanely difficult to master it at such a young age. In short she is not only a prodigy with a beautiful voice, but also a hardworker being able to master so many techniques

Okay if we want to get technical about her singing: Ado belts incredibly well. Her growls, fries, and all of distortions are done incredibly well too. What goes into doing growls, fries, and all of that, is opening up false chords and using more (even flow of) breath. However, Ado places more grit into them. This is why her style of singing is so characteristically Ado's. If we assume that she never took singing lessons, it's very impressive. But, there are aspects Ado did lack, hence the assumption that she never took singing lessons and only trained her voice on karaoke and videos. The main thing of singing is breathing with your diaphragm for support and control. Ado has great control! Support? Not really. In your other video that contains all, or almost all of Ado's raw vocals, it's very evident. Not comparing and not being an elitist, but incredible support has certain sound. I don't know how to put it into words, but it generally sounds more relaxed and smoother in terms of quality. Listing singers below so people can hear what support sounds like. Singers like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Faouzia, and Sohyang, they all have incredible support. You can hear the diaphragm being used. Best examples: Sohyang's Arirang Alone and Faouzia's stripped versions of her songs. Note: Faouzia never took singing lessons too. Ado, and a lot of rock and metal singers use less diaphragm and more throat. It's not a bad thing. Their certain sound of singing is great for those genres, and Ado's style.

A clear example of her growl is in, well, her debut song 'Ussewa'. The title itself has a very HEAVY negative connotation, much like the word 'urusai', which may be the phrase that the title is derived from. But the thing is, when 'Ussewa' is translated into the English language, it can literally be a more directly emphasized version of 'shut up' or 'keep your mouth shut'. The translation of this phrase is heavily dependent on the context in which it is used. Now, for my own analysis of the song's context. (I'm using the lyrics from Will Stetson's English Cover as my reference points.) 'Useewa' is about the story of an honor student who lashes his irritation out at the business world's harsh critique of him regarding his own definition of 'common sense'. During the verse, we hear his perspective about how he doesn't feel like himself. and how he thinks the high class has an unfair advantage compared to low-class and middle-class citizens like him, therefore creating a sense of distrust toward others in his mind. *('The happy's gone away, we went and broke the game, I don't know who, but someone's got to take the blame.')* He checks the trends as usual, pretending to care at first, and continues to work under the rules of society as usual. *('Surfing the mainstream, the news in your veins. Stock prices failing while work wastes away')* But later down the line, he becomes irritated at the system's way of making progress with their plans. *('Riding the pipe dream, your joy turns to hate')* With a newfound feeling of rebellion, he then rebels against the system, despite his superiors telling him to not question their methods. *('Now this is the calling to all us corporate slaves').* In a heavy, raging anger, he begins to verbally unravel the system's flaws with direct verbal provocation, and how he's perfectly healthy, despite their worldviews and thoughts toward him. *('Shut it! Shut it! Fuck this shit! I'm limping in a grave, but I haven't quit.')* As his rage continues, he denies the system's claims that he would submit to their directives, confidently saying that he'll come out alive in the end despite his higher-ups pretending to not know of his intentions. *('Average slacker, that's your bid, never understand me but I bet that I'll win.)* Having had enough, he expresses his unamused thoughts at the system pulling the same tricks every time to keep him in the dark the whole time. *('Ah, what a perfect fit, is it the wind, or is that dumb farce a lame melody?')* Reaching the peak of his frustration, he affirms that he's no longer going to follow the system's orders blindly and declares his independence from them. *('Do it how you want but as for me, I'm free, I'm done with this!')*

She has a great technique and I think that the artists who wrote the songs would be tested on their abilities in the future. After reading the interviews with the Film Red artists, I knew I was right. I am writing this as information that is probably hard to obtain for non-Japanese. Excerpts from the Film Red Magazine interviews New Genesis - Yasutaka Nakata She always records alone, so I asked her to sing a demo first. After listening to it, I adjusted the sound so that her voice would shine through. I gave her very little direction. I wanted her to sing from her own interpretation. I'm invincible - Mrs. Green Apple We were conscious of making a song that was uniquely our own. We wanted to hear what kind of chemical reactions would occur when she sang a song that was uniquely ours. The first time we heard the song on the recording data, we felt that Uta was definitely singing. Backlight-Vaundy I was not sure how to express Uta's feelings. But I believed that Ado would be able to express them. I decided to use a melody that would be easy for her to put Ado feelings into. Her voice was as wonderful as I had imagined. She expressed what I had in mind for Uta's feelings. Tot Musica - Hiroyuki Sawano I didn't have any request for Ado. I just went for the sound I wanted to create. Her singing was so wonderful and cool. I also thought she could express herself in many different ways. Fleeting Lullaby - Fake Type. We wanted to create a song that was uniquely our own. We thought it would be interesting to have Ado sing our song, which is a special genre of electro swing rap. When I heard the song, it was even better than I expected and gave me goosebumps. The World's Continuation - Yuta Orizaka I think my songs and Vocaloid songs are the exact opposite of each other. It was interesting to see how Ado would sing his own song, which is the exact opposite. Before listening to the song, I expected her to sing the pitch, melody, and rhythm precisely. However, her songs had fluctuations. I was impressed, because I believe that my idea of a song is that fluctuation. There is a part in the lyrics that repeats, but I sent to her the message, "I know you can sing the same lyrics differently." Yes, I left it all to her. Where the wind blows - Motohiro Hata Ado is a great singer, so I created the music I wanted to express. I made it the way I wanted it, believing that she would sing it with a wide range and modulations. I tried new things, such as adding an orchestral soundtrack, but I was able to do all of that because I felt confident that she would be able to handle it.

15:46 it’s true and she aced it I can feel various emotions when listening to different songs of hers It’s more than just vocal dynamics, vocal range and vocal effects It’s the way she knows how to interpret and express different songs carrying different emotions, by associating them with different vocal techniques and also by putting genuine emotions into the music This is why she can master a dynamic range of songs: soft romantic, rage with distorted growl and a hoarse voice, madness with ‘flip’, depressed and frustrated with a low pitch, energetic and bouncy, etc etc.

You know I’m glad people like Ado. My normal voice sounds jaded, a bit tomboyish. And I sing with my throat. I prefer very energetic sounds where you sing low or mezzo. I love singing rock because then I can use fry and growl if I want. But 90% of the time I’ve been singing high and doing extra care at sounding lady-like and elegant because I thought nobody would like my real voice. Or my rock bullshit, as I often say. I’ve been part of a band and they always wanted to sing nice pop songs or idol songs and I was like "You don’t get it, I want to sing as if I am being ripped apart". They weren’t so fan of growls and such and my mother said she hates when I sing rock or rap, she thinks I sound better with lulling musics. And so I thought nobody liked it ! But now that I know people love Ado, I can go back to learning belt and growl 😭 I can go back to rock

The fact that ado is a self trained genius that is so incredibly famous at 21 now is CRAZY. honestly I wanna personally ask her what her secret was to just… being so good??

hi. well, I made another video (a second part of this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/boHGkompn5qNjNk ) there I investigated a little more about her singing and trajectory. basically... she has practiced a lot since she was 14 years old :P

Not too long after this, she has I believe a G6 note in God-ish. It also has examples of almost every single vocal technique she uses. Very God...ly-ish

And now she is on her World Tour... I am just soo happy, that she is able to see how much the whole World loves her... (Insert the "I'm not crying, you're crying" meme) I'm so unbelievable happy for her, that she is achieving and living her dream. And even on stage.. that the pauses between the songs are so minimal speaks volumes, that she is really loving what she is doing. And that makes me want to root for her even more (Got the chance to "see" her live at Düsseldorf a few days ago.. sadly the musik boxes covered her for the most part, so that I couldn't even see her silhouette.. but the mood and the feeling inside the venue was incredible)

The fact that YT just handed this video to me in recommended, like "take this, I know you'll be into that s" But, yo, great work, very interesting to learn about, well explained and well presented! I'm very fond of the visual explaining instead of only words as I don't have even basic knowledge about music. Also holly s, Ado was born in 2002, I can't even imagine the amount of dedication one has to have to have gotten this good being only 19-20yo, she probably studied and worked on music so so much to get that good in what I at least see as not as much time as most other artists I follow.

Before: Her at 14 post her song version of other artist… Me at 14 wondering why am stupid… Today: Her: at 19 becomes successful and performs for one piece movie Me: at 19 wondering why I can’t code “Hello world” In all honesty am proud of her. As someone the same age as her. Her success allowed to strive better and look forward to keep working harder. Basically showing that nothing is impossible. Her song are always a banger. I hope to meet her one day !

Even without proper singing knowledge one could understand her singing techniques are straining her vocal chords real hard. Hope she can balance her rest and training in her downtime because that talent she got right there is once in a blue moon.

Thank you so much for making this video! I totally appreciate it. I'm a recent fan of Ado, and I am ashamed that I did not know of her sooner. I discovered her through One Piece (yes u guys can hate me, its fine, its okay, as i said im ashamed hat i did not know of her sooner) and I was just blown away by her music, singing, everything. And so I started listening to her other works as well and let me tell you that my adoration for her grows even more. I mean, how can you not love her?! Anyways here I am on the internet, scouring (not in a creepy way) for info about Ado, and luckily, I have found this. Thanks again!

I came here just to see who Ado really was and I can actually sense how much you love Ado from this vid. I loved how much research you put into it and your way of interpretting your fan feelings lol I also love the final part you did for the voice styles(?), the part at 22:05 using Bocca della Verita. That must have been painful to edit. But the outcome is amazing. I'm someone who has no knowledge of music professionally at all but that was fun to watch. Thank you very much for this wonderful video. It really made me understand Ado and I'm about to just go fall and hear to every Ado song(especially the older ones).

AAAAAAAAAAA Estoy bien.
