The only good Hitachi AT300 in the UK, and the original! Glad to have these as my local services alongside Ramsgate - Victoria services, giving me two ways to London in around 1h30m from my coastal town of Herne bay (of which has a GORGEOUS station and I highly recommend an in-depth visit to Herne bay when you do the Chatham Mainline) Also, that train at St Pancras was not terminating at Sandwich. Southeastern advertise St Pancras - Ramsgate Via Dover Priory as only terminating at Sandwich because SE want passengers to take the faster St Pancras - Ramsgate via Faversham and St Pancras - Margate via Canterbury West services due to their much faster journey times. All but two services end up in Ramsgate. those 2 exceptions being the St Pancras - Faversham (which layers with other services on the Chatham mainline providing a 15 minute or less frequency between Rochester and Faversham) and the limited St Pancras - Maidstone West services. Doing every station in the medway area of the chatham mainline is easy, doing the Faversham - Dover line is a pain. (hourly)

At Ashford, whilst in the station the train switches from 3rd rail (which is limited to 100 mph) to overhead power supply, on HS1 these trains run at 140mph, but Eurostar run faster at (about) 183mph - and Eurostar has been known to be difficult if one of it's trains is delayed by a slower Javelin train. Javelins are build at same base as 8xx fleet (Hitachi A train) - these comming now into UK mainlines. @joshmarsh25322 ай бұрын
@stanley3647 ETCS level 2 is slowly being rolled out on the ECML but the 140mph will never happen because there's not enough free capacity on the line. There's also very little point as the time savings would be minimal and the capacity reduction would be significant

@@joshmarsh2532 Extra speed (140MPH) today only make sense as "extra speed buffer" for delayed trains. Maybe some non stopping services with enough room on route as well... @networkerfan What utter rubbish mate, what is more damaging to the planet is a Volcano erupting as proven when the weird named Volcano on Iceland blew it's top about 8 years ago grounding every aircraft from the Arctic Circle to the Mediterranean for weeks, modern aircraft are wonderous things that emit mainly water vapour out of their engine's exhaust, they transit the globe taking people on business trips and Holiday all over the world, they transport goods to us, they delver emergency aid to troubled countries, they protect us in times of War and Piece and above all they are one of the safest ways to travel from A to B and take you in sheer comfort on your Holidays. Climate change as we know is utter crap as the Earth is not only destroying itself but from the day it was formed and the first dinosaurs farted and will continue till in millions of years either Volcanos or a Nuclear War destroys Earth or the Sun will destroys the Earth even you eating sprouts and Turkey at Christmas laughing while you fart watching the Kings Speech is affecting the climate so Climate change is a big joke and why should I and many give up my flying, petrol and Diesel cars and Gas Boilers in the UK when 3rd world countries won't bother plus Trump is not interested in it, so to answer your other question there is no call for passengers from Birmingham or Manchester to catch a train to Paris or Brussels, the amount of passenger from Brum or Manchester to Europe would not even fill a coach on a train when it is quicker, easier and faster to Fly. I bet you go abroad and fly, even Cruise Ships belch out exhaust fumes. If you want to know about polluted environment, take a look at London between Victorian times and the early 1960's, you will see the City enshrouded in a dense fog/mist called Smog a combination of dirty smoke from Factories old fashioned cars and steam trains mixed with Fog which caused untold deaths and I remember it in Birmingham in the 1960's and this only ended with the Clean air act banning coal fires and factories using the burning of coal for production, the environment we have now is perfectly clean compared to the past, so no we dont need to or want to reduce the number of planes, god I do love flying

There was a time when they did 140mph, but safety concerns over signal sighting (as it's conventionally signalled rather than using the TVM system like HS1 does (HS1 is essentially a French TGV line in the UK in terms of engineering and technology)) ETCS Level 2 is currently being installed on the ECML (and, I believe on the GWML at some point), which will enable 140mph on those two lines since the IEPs are capable of it
